Looking for a Super Blacked-Out theme |
|
I tried messing with the onboard theme modifier but couldn't get it quite black enough. I would like EVERYTHING black except the font (which I would like grey).
Specifically, I couldn't modify the window borders and a few other things I can't remember right now.

Hmm, which theme exactly, gtk or for specific window manager?
Window decorations are usually part of window manager theme and gtk theme changes apereance of gtk apps.
Did you try my BlackPup GTK theme from here:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=388515#388515
It's very dark with grey text and nice glossy gradient on buttons.
Here's screenie:

That theme seems to have left window borders, task bar, and menu light blue.
Is there a program that's better than the onboard theme modifier that comes with Puppy (which seems fairly limited)?

Those parts you said are not part of gtk but jwm, go to jwm config in desktop menu to change jwm theme (jwm is default window manager)
See for jwm themes:

EDIT: Plus there's vg black jwm theme in puppy

Alright, I now seem to be running some type of hybrid between your theme and my own jwm mods. I didn't realize theme setting were modified in two different ways. Where can I find out more about this?
Between your theme and my own tweaks I've got it kind of close to what I wanted except in the file browser the links are blue and some of the fonts (I believe from your theme) are too big. Also, the desktop fonts are black so don't show up on a black background.
Lastly, where can I find the black jwm theme you mention?
thanks

Regarding blue names in file manager go to rox options then under colors tab uncheck "Coulour names based on filetypes" something like that.
Black jwm theme is the one that comes with puppy but you can find darker ones look this forum under jwm themes section.
Maybe in this post:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=358968#358968
EDIT: Desktop font under icons can be also modified somewhere in rox options.
