disciple, You may be right. I am rechecking. Certainly you are right about how it used to be. My daughter may have downloaded the Software Removal Tool without me knowing. It is supposed to delete itself after use, but maybe she never used it. It popped up on me twice, but maybe that is because I di...

I thought it was a separate tool that you download only on Windows if you are having a problem? I may be wrong about this next sentence. See below. In the latest version of Chrome disciple, it was built in and just popped up. I was astounded. It never said what it was doing--if you told it to go ah...

Google Chrome browser Contains Malware

This is an excerpt that I thought some of you might find amusing. Clever title, eh? This is the outcome of what I started back during Lucid. Most people here are beyond this, but the goal is maximum privacy protection consistent with unimpaired usability--and no geek stuff required. You should know ...

Adding and integrating Lxterminal to FbBox

Adding and integrating Lxterminal to FbBox . Some people prefer lxterminal because it operates the same way as the other programs in Puppy (menu, right-click to copy and paste etc.) 1. Menu -> Setup -> Puppy Package Manager; search for lxterminal; click to install (Precise will need to also install...

Much Faster Firefox startup with Adblock Plus

The sluggishness from Adblock is how fast Firefox starts up. You might try an experiment to disable Adblock and see if Firefox starts up any faster. Ah, ok. There's is definitely a bit of a gap there but I have found that Firefox traditionally takes a while to load up anyway. However, it might be i...

Does Puppy run much slower in the virtual box? Too slow for impatient persons like myself? Could this be a way to get puppy on new UEFI machines? Yes, an old thread nooby but I did something similar just recently, using VMWare instead of Virtualbox. Lucid will not run on my current laptop so I ran ...

Hey don570, This package links to the mtpaint handbook online rather than installing it--no doubt serious users of mtpaint would get quicker response with your pet.

Most Puppie lack Help for mtPaint, Sylpheed, Gnumeric

In a number of modern Puppies, asking for Help in Sylpheed, mtPaint, and Gnumeric results in error messages. This tiny pet fixes that. As don570 says below, one should close the programs before installing the pet.

My position is that 5.2.8.005 was the last official Lucid Puppy. Lucid 5.2.8.6 is a Puppy derivative, and no other puppy derivatives get space in the ibiblio repo. rerwin has created a viable Puppy subculture--but I don't think it should receive privileges that other unofficial Puppies do not get. gvfs-1.12.3 is already built-in to LxPup14.03 so maybe that pet isn't needed??

Probably only libsoup is needed then. I will experiment. Add: Yes, it seems so.

The rest is handled by peebee's fix on p.16.
