Thanks again for your help Ttuuxxx, Alas, the error message is the same as before. Failed to connect to wpa_supplicant - wpa_ctrl_open: No such file or directory My interpretation of the error message is that the file wpa_ctrl_open is missing. However, I find no such file in the wpasupplicant pet ...

Thanks Ttuuxxx for your help. Your pet package silenced the complaint about missing libreadline.so.6. But still no correct internet connection. The error message now reads: Failed to connect to wpa_supplicant - wpa_ctrl_open: No such file or directory. I have Ubuntu 9.10 (Karmic Koala) installed on ...

Partview Free space in drives
I have improved(?) the partview function of Puppy 4.3.1rc2. When you run the program, the free space of mounted partitions are first shown. After that, you have the option to show the free space of all partitions (including not mounted ones). If you install the included Partview.pet in Puppy 4.3.1 ...

Partview accuracy
Some of the values shown in Partview seem to differ somewhat from those of Pmount. (More than can be attributed to if 1GB is 10**9 or 2**30 bytes.) cf. pv1.jpg and pv2.jpg. I feel that information about mounted partitions is sufficient and have put together a small perl script which is sufficient ...

pmount problem
When the /usr/sbin/pmount icon is clicked, the size of all partitions are shown, and free memory is shown for a mounted partition. But if the cursor is placed over a drive icon, "Size: 0.0GB" is only shown. For an usbdrv the size is shown but free memory information does not appear for any of the ...

Upgrade to 4.3 final
I upgraded from a frugal installation of 4.2.1 to 4.3. using the scheme 1. Copy the 4.2.1 root folder to /mnt/home. 2. Install 4.3 on the partition where 4.2.1 resides 3. Install pet and sfs packages. 4. Copy personal folders and configuration scripts from 4.2.1 root to 4.3 root. Cheers :D ecube

1.14.1 keymaps
Hi Maddox,
The proposed change affects the console keyboard layout and the choice of keymap at the initial boot. The xorg kbd keyboard driver is not involved.
Regards,
ecube

Complete set of kmap-1.14.1 keymaps
I feel that all kmap-1.14.1 keyboard layouts should be available in Puppy Linux. I invite all users of non-us keyboards to test the concept. To test download http://www.afi-vasteras.se/ppa-422.iso:ppa-422kmap.iso.delta which is a delta file related to ppa-422.iso md5sums ...

Hi fyujj,
You can add the attached file to /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386/qwerty.
If everything looks alright, you may ask Barry to do the same.
Regards,
Olov

Re: [Bug] 4.2.1 Network config not loading
The Network Wizard scripts in 420rc2 and 42final are identical. So the cause of the problem rests elsewhere. The 420 upgrade by ttuuxxx (v2) (where Pwidgets is removed) is OK.

Re: [Bug] 4.2.1 Network config not loading
I found the same problem. I don't think it is hardware related. In addition to 421rc2 I have the following (frugal) puppies installed on the same computer: upup461, NOP413, 420rc2, 42final The first three reconnects to my WAN but the fourth does not. So there seems to have been a change in the ...

alias definitions in .bashrc
Hi Gray,
Compliments for an excellent puppy version.
A minor but annoying problem for me is that including alias definitions in .bachrc has no effect. I am doing anything wrong?
Cheers,
ecube

Puppy 4.2 keyboard layout
The Puppy 4.2 keyboard layouts are a subset of the kbd-1.14.1 keymaps. The remaining kbd-1.14.1 keymaps are available in kmap-1.14.1.pet. Usage: loadkmap < /usr/share/kmap/xxx.kmap All keymaps available in kbd-1.14.1 are converted to the binary kmap format used in Busybox. Source: Tiny Core Linux ...

WhoDo, WhoDo, if you think it is worthwhile to change the keymaps replace the directory /usr/share/kbd/keymaps/i386 by the attached i386 file.
