Tahr Pup (like newer pups) doesn't work on my computer.
Ever since the new auto-detection of video on first boot, none of the puppies have worked well. I think it is due to the combo of a Radeon clone graphics card and my monitor. I tried a Philips monitor and that worked for a while. Then one day it blew and had no picture. Now I am using a Benq monitor...

There is no right answer
There is no right answer. Two approaches are possible: - Just go at it: try wary or racy versions and then work your way through slacko and lupu and derivatives. - Be systematic: Make a list of your hardware (for that you need your hardware profile) and search through the forum section on hardware t...

nosmp and keucr.ko
Hi, Somehow specifying 'nosmp' in grub menu.lst kills the keucr.ko module loading and therefore, the ENE card reader will not work and the SDHC card does not appear as a drive. So, when I removed that parameter from the menu, keucr.ko loads again and my SDHC card appears as a drive and can be read a...

grub4dos
nooby,
Not to be academic but your kernel line in the grub menu should read:
pmedia=atahd and psubdir instead of pusubdir
(The hard disk is ATA not SCSI).
I don't understand why you put "puppy" on the line. The rest of it looks correct.
Ciao,

Windows
Every once in a while I am on some forum and a Windows troll starts blasting Linux and saying how wonderful Windows is and how pitiful Linux is and how Linux will never be popular on the desktop, etc. etc. and I start to think maybe Linux isn't so hot and Windows is really great... After all, in Lin...

Wine 1.3.30 Regression Error
Hi,
I had problems running Noteliner with bulleted text, and Calendar Magic in general (wouldn't run) and I went back to 1.3.29 and all those problems were solved.
So depending on the windows applications you need, you may find 1.3.29 better than 1.3.30.

I am sorry but I don't understand the purpose of the initial question and hence of the thread. What are your goals? Do you want to run Linux software on your Palm? Or do you want to run your old Palm software? The two questions don't have identical answers. Say you want to run Linux software built f...

Smart Card Reader
If it is an RHS ENE Technologies smart card, then you need the keucr module . Otherwise, you need to identify (use google) the brand of smart card reader that your computer uses and see whether the module source is available. If so, you will need to have the source compiled / compile the source your...

My Approach
My approach is to put all my data: docs, databases, spreadsheets, presentations, pdfs, eBooks, html files like Tiddlywiki on an SDHC card. (I have enough room so also store pets and source files and OpenOffice/LibreOffice extensions; java apps, etc. on it.) Started doing that in 2008 when I retired ...

The Future
I agree Windows is the biggest con. Microsoft took defective file systems (FAT16, FAT32, NTFS: disk fragmenting, no permissions) and put a graphic interface on them. And they have spent the last 20 years or so trying to fix them, while keeping backwards compatibility.. Ultimately, they will have to ...

Hi Tazoc, After running Lighthouse 64 for awhile, am finding some issues with the boot-up and Firefox. At boot-up, since have 12 partitions, really don't feel like going through the e2fsk routine every time I boot up. Where can I mod this to only run e2fsk every 20 times, say? The other problem expe...

Tried the new beta with old save file and in RAM mode. With old save file, XOrg didn't work. Got dumped into xvesa. In RAM mode, got the proper screen but found that apps ran more slowly. In RAM mode also tried to do "mix and match" - i.e., went through old save file, copying additions and...

I don't have an HP200 LX but I have two Omnigo 100's (one with a 1MB SRAM card). I liked the machine very much. Unlike the DOS-based HP200 LX, the Omnigo runs GEOS on top of DOS. (The Omnigo GEOS is not compatible with PC or Commodore 64/128 GEOS). It is a predecessor of the Palm Pilot but comes wit...
