Semme: Thanks for your willingness to help out. FYI I am working with 32-bit Tahr. I have two BAT listings under /proc/acpi/battery/BAT*: BAT0 and BAT1. Both folders have three files in them: alarm, info, and state. Here is the output of acpi -V Battery 0: Charging, 92%, 456:00:00 until charged Batt...

Battery status monitor - Precise vs Tahrpup ?
Been reading the discussion around battery status monitoring apps around this forum (e.g., http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=100492&start=15), mainly because the version that accompanies Tahrpup is not working on my Dell laptop. There is an icon displayed, but it never changes - const...

Well, rather than take the plunge and reinstall Puppy Precise, I managed to get wireless working manually. Here are the commands I issued in a terminal: First this one: wpa_supplicant -i wlan0 -D wext -c /etc/network-wizard/wireless/wpa_profiles/wpa_supplicant2.conf then, I open up a second terminal...

BTW, how do I run the pfix=clean parameter? If I insert the CD into the disk drive, do I have to specify the partition where the full install resides (e.g. /dev/sda2) or will the livecd automatically pick up on that? Mark P.S. If this doesn't work, I just might bite the bullet, reformat the drive to...

Bigpup, I will try replacing the wpa files to see if this corrects the problem. I will search around to see where they area all located. Any idea which file is responsible for creating the socket file under /var/run/wpa_supplicant? Is it one of the wpa files, or does the wpa_supplicant file invoke s...

Wireless stopped working in Precise 571
Hello: I'm hoping that there are a couple of Puppy Linux experts out there that can help me resolve my wireless network connection. I have been using Puppy for a number of years on an older Dell laptop with very few problems, upgrading to newer versions along the way. I currently have version 5.7.1 ...

gnomad issues on Lucid 5.2.0
I have installed Gnomad 2.9.6 on a laptop running Lucid 5.2.0. The program loads up fine and I am able to view files on both the laptop and the android device (Asus tablet). When I click a button to transfer a file, however, the Gnomad window disappears. Yet, the file transfer still takes place. I s...

Removing unwanted packages after upgrade
I am writing this post to confirm with other more experienced puppy users my understanding of how to deal with package management. Here's the scenario: I just recently upgraded a full hard drive install from Puppy version 2.17.1 to version 4.3.1. The process went quite smoothly, with the new version...

[Solved] Filezilla dependencies
I am attempting to install Filezilla 3.0.2.1 ftp client on Puppy v2.17, full hd install. When checking dependencies, I get this messaage: These dependencies required by FileZilla-3.0.2.1 package are missing: File /bin/filezilla has these missing library files: libgcrypt.so.11 libgpg-error.so.0 A sea...
