Bionic 8.0 32 bit PPM hangs

Has anyone else had problems with PPM hanging at check_deps.sh? I'm seeing this on some petget sessions and not others, and haven't been able to discern a pattern yet. When it happens, I have to kill the check_deps.sh process to clear the hangup. It's Bionic 8.0 32 bit, full installation. Thanks.

Peazip will read RAR archives, though I don't know whether it can save in RAR format (never tried). Works for me (old version from 2010). It's LGPLv3.

I don't see it in Bionic's ppm, but you can download a portable (static) version from the website.

Thanks, Jafadmin. That looks like a simple, direct script, certainly worth a try. Well done.

So Bob's your uncle too, eh? Quite a coincidence, that. :-)

Unfortunately this isn't working for my system. It's an Asus M2N68-AM+ board, 2gb core. I'm running Bionic-32 8.0. EDIT: The processor is an AMD Phenom 8550 3-core. The sensors-detect-min utility identifies the temp sensor as an it87, but replacing the original module in cpucurtemp.sh with that one ...

Static IP change workaround

This seems to be a long-standing bug in Puppy's Network Wizard. After some further thought, I remembered having this same problem with a static IP address in Lucid Puppy years ago. Even though I've found a workaround, I'm leaving the status as "not solved" in the hope that maybe someone wh...

Bionic 32: Can't change static IP address

Running a full installation of Bionic 32 here, and I need to change the static IP address that I set originally, to a different one. Can't make it work. I run the internet connection wizard, select Network Wizard, and set a new static IP address. Network Status reports the new address. All looks goo...

I tried suspending some other mainline pups on this laptop. Xenial 7.5 32 bit doesn't kill the mouse cursor, but it also doesn't put the machine into suspend. Well, it briefly does, but then then the machine immediately wakes up again, with the lid still closed. Slacko 6.3.0 32 bit works perfectly. ...

> add as second last line: > jwm -restart No change. Probably because of this code further up: for USB in $USBS do mount | grep -q "^USB: && rm -f "$LOCKFILE" && exit 0 done If I'm reading that right, it means that if any usb drives are mounted, suspend.sh exits, so no...

Bionic Pup chews up my mouse cursor

Trying out Bionic on a Thinkpad T400. Mostly pleased so far, but ... The mouse cursor vanishes when I close and reopen the laptop lid, if a USB drive is mounted. I haven't found a way to restore the mouse cursor short of ctrl-alt-backspace and restarting xwin. That kills all the running programs, so...

Ah, thanks. The reason for this isn't clear to me, but okay, no suspend if USB drives are mounted. SO, why does the mouse pointer vanish when I close and reopen the laptop lid with USB drives mounted? And, more importantly, how do I either prevent it going away, or get it back without having to rest...

Bionic won't suspend with mounted USB drive

Finally taking Bionic 8.0 out for a walk on a Thinkpad T400. Snappy! Having a small problem though, and I hope someone can help. I searched the forum for this and didn't see any posts referring to it. The built in ACPI routines suspend the machine quickly and smoothly when I close the lid (not on Fn...

I still don't understand why one T400 does this and the other doesn't, but so it goes, I guess.

Suspend puzzle - Tahr on Thinkpad T400 (solved)

I have two Thinkpad T400s, one with a frugal installation of Tahr on the SSD, and a second running Tarh from a USB drive or CD. (I haven't done a frugal or full installation on that one yet.) The first T400 suspends and wakes up again when requested. No problems at all. The second T400 will not susp...

Isn't that SSE, though? I don't think PII processors even support that. I could be wrong.

This Dell CPi has 128mb of memory. The service manual spec page says that's all, folks. It's not even SDRAM, it's old 60ns EDO memory. I'm not yet ready to reformat and/or partition the disk, so I'm doing my testing much as I did with the Thinkpad, using grub4dos to load from directories on the exis...
