I'm thinking of moving over to a CLI browser. That'll probably solve most of my problems, and it'll work for most of the things I do. Better, actually. When I read a news article, I'm not interested in the comment section, or the auto-playing video, or the ads.Total RAM: 3768 MB

JWM is my default, but I use ratpoison most of the time. This happens regardless of which WM I'm dropping out of, which makes it difficult when I need to switch between the two. It does drop me to the prompt screen every time. I can tell by sound: any sounds playing in the WM stop, and when I'm on t...

As I said in the original post, I shut down the WM with ctrl-alt-backspace, and I do it when I have literally no other option for not losing my work. Some app (usually Palemoon, but not always) slows the computer to a crawl. I can push Caps Lock on the keyboard, and the Caps Lock light doesn't come ...

Thanks everyone! Will give that script a try. Could upgrade to Bionic, but I'd rather not if I can help it. I've remastered Xenial just the way I like it, and I try not to do that too often. The TV has multiple HDMI ports, and I actually have five HDMI cables going into it, and I can switch cables a...

HDMI display problem in 64-bit Xenial 7.5
I'm using Xenial 7.5, 64 bit, hooked up to my TV via HDMI. Sometimes something crashes or locks up or something, so I ctrl-alt-backspace. When I do this, the TV reports that it's not receiving any input. I find that I can restart the window manager (still can't see anything, but I know it's restarte...

Portable browser with Flash (for playing games) (Solved)
In the past, I've downloaded several flash games that I'd like to be able to play again. My latest Puppy distro doesn't seem to be able to open them though. Pale Moon tries to download the file from sda1 to sda1. I tried moving the libflashplayer.so file to /usr/lib/mozilla/plugins/libflashplayer.so...

In any Puppy, have a look at (cd to) /usr/share/zoneinfo/Africa Very similar. It's used mostly by the date utility, but also (not 100 % sure) by the ntp protocol (when its utilities are installed). Maybe the leftover from a incomplete formatting or partitioning. A power outage occurred while format...

unmount the ntfs drive and then in a terminal try: /sbin/mount.ntfs-3g /dev/sda1 /mnt/sda1 replace the /sda1 with your drive. did this change anything? No, it doesn't seem to have changed anything. If you can boot Windows. ... Could try a check of the save. Don't have Windows or a save file. The fi...

"files" that can't be deleted
I googled and found this thread , but unfortunately no solution. I'm having a very similar problem. I have a directory filled with these "files", which rox filer labels with orange exclamation point danger sign icons. They don't seem to take up any space, but I can't change the permissions...

[solved] can't get wine to work - 64 bit
I'm using Xenialpup64 7.5, and I can't seem to get wine to work. I've downloaded and installed seven packages called wine from the PPM, and bash still tells me "wine: command not found". Am I downloading the wrong packages or something?

Hallo, Saladin. I agree with backi; for simple split-and-join, Avidemux will indeed do just what you want. I am, however, going to recommend the builds by Patriot that are mentioned in Shinobar's post which backi linked to, here:- http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=46221 Now I feel a ...
