Yes lads, after having to hand craft a lot of those pets in smokey's repo, I am very happy that we can now let Barry's do the heavy lifting and trim the fat whilst I have a bacon butty instead! I thought they just deleted everything. It will be good that the Cosmics, Discos and Vivid (that was a pre...

UPDATE The Puppy Package Manager on "Legacy" Releases.

I was talking with Fred about the Puppy Package Manager and how some of the old but good releases may no longer have a functioning PPM. Well he discovered how to get them functioning again. Tahr, Lucid, Debian etc. The working recipe is: 1. Update the Database First. 2. Close the Puppy Package Manag...

Just updating this on the duckduckgo problem. (Like when javascript is temporarily off or disabled). When you got to: https://duckduckgo.com/ And then you put the mouse or whatever into the search box. If you hit enter or click on the S to the right of the search box. You get: https://html.duckduckg...

Flash, have you got a spare email you could use as a contact point for any registration problems? I've no idea on the number of potential applicants, but hopefully it is managable. This site must be being maintained because it is one of the smoothest quickest on the www. The big boy linuxes I should...

Hi mike, the biggest laugh is seeing big horrible cross scripting warnings on respected organisations home pages. I write to them-they stay silent. Duckduckgo is broken as from a few days ago. Tried onesearch, that seems to work okayish,. Startpage, mmm, sort of okay. Have you a top three of benign ...

Thanks for these kits RSH, really nice sounds.
Meaty Bass Drum and those ice bells are great. It’s all well thought out and balanced nicely.
Will pass these to our locked down drummer, he will probably program something better than the disco beats I produce :)

There's a 32 bit compatibility sfs for bionic64, but it seems broken. I have had too many problems with 64 bit, no validated CSM compatibility. Touching ntfs partitions, bootsector alteration bcd, grldr, bootmgr, corrupting legacy bios after a few hard drive accesses. Retaining hard drive access fla...

I wonder if the dude might have had more success trying a puppy linux at the time, sure he would come across the ip tables problems, but network and hardware pickup has always seemed to be good and largely hassle free. Via excepted. And Broadcom. Maybe UEFI is eventually going to be payware and keys...

I've put a Wine Upgrade in Smokey's repository, takes wine and dev up to 5.8. There's a little surgery involved : 1. Delete .wine folder in root. 2. Go to usr/lib and delete the Wine folder there. 3. Stay in usr/lib and delete the 3 files libwine.so (symbolic link), libwine.so.1 (symbolic link) and ...

A few tweaks.
Have removed pwidgets from that 5 series kernel, pwidgets is available as a pet now. Was just in it to see how puppy was running with that kernel.
Pulse audio volume control pet had a duplicated menu entry, now fixed.

I use GLIB 226. Your Version 3 was as far as I tried, which was not as straightforward as previously, (i.e...

Hi Version 2013.

Is Wine 4.9 on page 25 the best version to use for 32 bit?

I ask because of those bugs you mention onwards, which affect Vulkan DirectX D3D replacement thing according to comments on that wine forum.

Hi Foxpup, the pets are for this derivative only.
It has apulse pulse audio emulation in it, doesn’t seem to be causing problems but I don’t start Firefox with apulse command.

FatDog or Fred’s Dog’s might be a decent candidate for a package manager type install.
Josejp Buster has it built in.

There is a Pulse Audio Volume Control pet in Smokey’s repo. This complements the pulse audio subsystem and provides pretty flexible routing options especially if you have multiple audio interfaces. I’ve tested it with new Firefox 76 (which is also in the repo, I have disabled updates ‘cos this stuff...
