Thanks, bigpup! I edited the first entry of the third screen Grub shows me, by changing pmedia=cd to pmedia=usbflash. Bingo! I have to do this at every boot, but now I guess I could remaster the cd. What a relief!

Back again...Yes, I`m using the first boot option. I`m not using the RAM-ONLY option. I burned the CD from an iso downloaded from OSDisk.com { or somewhere online ), so it`s read-only.. Could it be a problem related to my hardware? I`m using a new (with UEFI} HP model 255. When I unmount the optical...

Thanks, everyone. Internet access for me is spotty. I need to clarify. I tried using only one thumb drive, and in a different port: didn`t work. My problem is not that no savefile is created; there are several of them now, on two different drives. Rather, the problem I see is that when booting, I`m ...

The savefile is on a thumb drive. I don`t use the hard drive, it`s never mounted.

xenialpupsave file

When I boot xenialpup 7.5 from CD, no xenialpupsave ever comes up, even though I make one when I shut down, and I can see it on the drive. I want to attach the /etc/rc.d/PUPSTATE file from the last boot, but it`s not allowed. PUPMODE=5 PDEV1='sr0' DEV1FS='iso9660' PUPSFS='sr0,iso9660,/puppy_xenialpu...

This pmodemdiag was made after booting up cold, with the modem plugged in, and after starting the Internet Connection Wizard. The Wizard said no modem was found at ttyACM0. So, to get online and post this I had to click reboot and wait, after which the Wizard said a modem was found at ttyACM0 and I ...

Puppy 5.2.5 modeswitch?

I think I may have a modeswitch problem. When I first boot up, the Internet Connection Wizard says no modem is found, and I can`t connect. However, if I then choose reboot, as opposed to power-off computer, the Wizard says modem found at ACM0, and I can connect just fine. I leave the USB modem, a Fr...

Here`s how.

I tried this in Puppy 525, from a CD, just as it is, with no lupusave file, just so you know. Boot without the modem plugged in. If you boot with it in, Puppy will see it as a storage device, and then you can access the connection software that automatically loads onto a Windoze machine. Maybe you c...

Sorry I haven`t stayed right on top of this. I can only get online some of the time because Starband Satellite only works some of the time. I tried your suggestions for APN, but with no joy. In the file named wvdial.conf.txt, in pmodemdiag-20111229, I noticed a line: #To list all the APNs stored in ...

Re: How to use Franklin U210 EVDO wireless modem?

Thank you, Karl. Using ferro10n`s "How to use mobile GPRS Internet in Puppy", I learned the modem is seen at ttyACM0, and I`m attaching the output from clicking on the Choose and then the Probe button in the Internet Connection Wizard: Scanning your serial ports for a modem. Port Scan<*1>:...

How to use Franklin U210 EVDO wireless modem? SOLVED

I think I need to get the right module loaded first. Can anyone tell me what module works?

Would appreciate any ideas at all.
