Perhaps look for a section in xorg.conf where the driver is specified, and replace whatever is in there (like "nouveau") with "vesa", then try to start X with the "xwin" command. Maybe also check if the screen resolution listed there is okay for your hardware. (If X doe...

I don't know what it does when you have 2 video cards... Maybe it's trying to use the Intel driver with the Nvidia card, or it doesn't know which card to use in the first place? The aforementioned "vesa" driver will probably work with any of them; try it out. Not sure how to tell it which ...

What graphics card do you have? Maybe run xorgwizard again and try another driver, like the generic "vesa" one. If the problem is not just the driver being incompatible with your hardware, I have no idea what to do. I don't really have any experience in this area. I tried using an incompat...

The goal is to make a mysql export which will run through a conversion script to "translate" the murga forum SQL file into the phpBB v3+ database structure format. The new forum would take on the the same structure as the murga forum and the chaos could continue. Provided we can get the d...

As Semme said, it would be helpful if you told us how you installed Puppy. Did you use Puppy's own install tools while running the system from a CD/DVD? Did you use the "Lick" installer that is included in the Bionicpup 64 ISO file? Or some other method? I assume you have created a "f...

I have mixed feelings. The new site looks great. Could be a good move. But there is a wealth of content on this site. Same here. This site is where all the content is. Information, packages, lots of more or less relevant discussions, and lots of people to have those discussions with. Losing all of ...

Personally, I prefer phpBB2 over phpBB3, as it's simple and works with pretty much any browser, and the version on murga-linux.com doesn't even require cookies or anything to log in and post. The e-mail problem would need to be sorted out, of course. I had a look at rockedge's forum and noticed some...

You didn't say which Slacko version you are using; I've checked the 32bit version of Slacko 6.3.2, (loaded from CD with a savefile on HDD) and /mnt/home is a symlink to /initrd/mnt/dev_save, which is effectively the sda1 partition (and which is named "sda1" on the desktop). Creating a &quo...

You could try fixing the symlink: delete the link to the 3600 version of libpango and re-link to the 3800 one. Either through ROX Filer, if it still works, or via the terminal (if your graphical terminal is broken, too, press Ctrl + Alt + Backspace to exit to the command prompt). Enter the following...

You installed this program on Xenialpup? I just tried in with Xenialpup 7.5 in a virtual machine. Similar result - the vice 2.4 .pet for Tahrpup re-links libpango from a 3800 version to a 3600 one, and some - but not all - programs fail to create a window (urxvt terminal and ROX Filer are still work...

On Puppy, /bin/umount is a script. Would it be possible to add the backup command to the beginning of that script, so that it runs before the unmounting occurs?

I'm using a multisession CD rather than a frugal install, so I'm not too familiar with this, but if I'm not mistaken, a frugal Puppy may use "home" as a name for the partition that the savefile is located on instead of its usual name, like "sda1".
