I have only just seen this. Although most computers can output sound, the quality is constrained by the quality of the components used to create an analogue signal from digital. Those of us who have spent money on good amplifiers and loudspeakers like to ensure that what is being fed into them is of...

Not sure I understand the logic here. If they sell the hardware at a loss, surely selling you more hardware will cause bigger losses. Continuing to sell toner/ink is what they want to do, and stopping their old stuff from working is not going to help. Every time you buy a new printer, you are quite ...

I was using Slacko 6.3.2, but have now reverted to using a T61 with Xenial. When I am less busy I will endeavour once more to load Xenial on the T42. Thanks for the info re copying to terminal. I think I have mastered it! You didn't say which Slacko version you are using; I've checked the 32bit vers...

Slacko HDD name causes Deadbeef playlist problem
Recently I swapped my music computer (a 64 bit Thinkpad T61) for an older 32 bit machine (TP T42). I have described elsewhere my difficulties trying to install Xenialpup 32 on the latter computer. The earlier one had Xenial 64, and I like Xenial. Having given up on Xenial for the moment I installed ...

I will give that a go in a few days. Right now I need to do all the things I didn't do while making countless efforts to install Xenial. Cheers I think in this case what I would do is shut down and reset BIOS to optimum defaults. Format the usb stick with Windows XP or whatever version. Then pick up...

Well, first of all, thank you everybody who tried to use this ISO. I am glad in a way to find that it works, but it doesn't help with my problem - other than ruling out one possibility. Let me continue by correcting a couple of misapprehensions. The error message from Etcher came as I was trying to ...

Thanks for coming back on this. I have reported that it's not working. Xenial 7.5 32-bit boots fine from a USB stick. May I ask if you have tried the ISO that is currently in the library? I am sure that earlier versions have worked, but has anybody tried the current one? Just checked, the answer is ...

Don't be so sure it's fixed.
I have been trying and trying to get that ISO to work, and have failed every time.

Xenial 7.5 32-bit boots fine from a USB stick. May I ask if you have tried the ISO that is currently in the library? I am sure that earlier versions have worked, but has anybody tried the current one? Maybe you are over complicating it, here is a simple way to do it from user rockedge http://www.mu...

No. I do believe the ISO is dud. Now I am just waiting for somebody to try it for themselves. Just to repeat; the same flash drive happily boots other varieties of Puppy in the same computers. I can't see any other possibility. Do you have any other USB drives plugged in when you try to boot Xenialp...

Interesting stuff, but I don't think it's relevant to my problem. The stick in question happily boots Xenialpup 64 and Tahrpup. It's the Xenial 32 that it doesn't like. Not so long ago, forum member Burn_IT wrote something about SOME thumbnail drives NOT being bootable no matter what. That would be ...
