Got exactly same problem : netgear card was not detected by network wizzard :-(
Had to enter manually tulip as driver and then ethernet worked.
This is not practical.

mplayer not working

With MPlayer1.0rc1-nvidia.pup got :

gui starts and crashes.

from shell : got errors :
MPlayer interrupted by signal 4 in module: init_audio_codec
MPlayer interrupted by signal 4 in module: demux_open
MPlayer interrupted by signal 4 in module: decode_audio
etc.

Old HW, PII 266MHz, 32Mb RAM, obsolete slow harddisk etc.

I could play videos on win98se, not smoothly though.
But gxine is too slow.
I also tried VLC, it is little better.
Dont know if lighter can be found ? mplayer ?

By the way, if I type mpg123 in the shell, it starts gxine, is it normal ?

tried xvesa, gets detected but displays unreadable lines and stuff on the screen...couldnt get it to work :-(

I also like Dillo which runs on very old hardware ! But javascript missing :-(.
