Zlss; Its a frugal install; supposedly just saving personal preferences etc. I boot from disk. If you boot with the parameter pfix=ram your pupsave will be ignored and you will be restored to a fresh install. I'm not sure how. I'm not that technically oriented. I just create a new pupsave and then ...

Recovery of lost applications from crashes.
I have had 2 crashes from Puppy in the last couple of months. The first removed the applications for the GUI. This was with Puppy 4.1.2. I didn't know how to recover so I moved on to Puppy Lucid 005. Today it lost access to the internet and says it can't find the ADSL modem or connection. I tried ...

HD recognition on Pup 4.3?
Could anyone explain why Puppy 4.1.2 will recognize my Samsung SATA PL40 Hard drive while Puppy 4.3 will not. I am using an older motherboard Asus A8V-MX. The only other Distro that I have that found the HD and recoginzes it is Ubuntu (Even Mint won't). I have tried different Sata plug setups, a ...

Make sure to change (I had to "type" it in) the destination folder for the installation to "usr/lib/seamonkey-1.1.11/" to overwrite or "delete" the old file. Choose to delete it. Then install.

I just checked and after downloading and installing SeaMonkey 1.1.16 I discovered that my version is still 1.1.11. I thought I had done it all correctly but, apparently not. Going back to the download site I found that the only version to download is for i686 machines. I have an i386 machine (AMD ...

Thanks for the reply and info. I really want to have a card that is ASIO compatible with Windoze for my primary music DAW/ application, but also compatible with Linux for internet and general playback. I recently read that the M-audio Delta 44 is good on most Linux Distros and that the OSS4 drivers ...

Does Puppy support onboard ALC889a audio?
I am planning on building a new computer setup and would like the Puppy part of it to support audio. I have tried the emu 0404 without success on my current system. Will the onboard ALC889a chipset on the newer Gigabyte motherboards be recognized? Is there a higher end soundcard (usb or internal ...

ADSL config lost. How to (re)connect? (Solved)
I have been using Puppy for almost a year now and have loved it up until now. I tried connecting to the net today and found that it would not connect. I discovered I had accidentally pulled the phone connection from the wall and reconnected the plug, but found I could no longer get a connection with ...
