All of your points in the other post are excellent.

There is something wrong with the Kppp.pup. As MU now has a paying job, He has not fixed Kppp.pup. I feel very grateful to MU for all that he has done to make my Puppy experience better. MU has created a lot of great Dot Pups.

Can you fix kppp.pup?

Jason
Thats great to hear. What ver of muppy and dialer are you using.
I have downloaded the last three versions of puppy and they seem to be getting worst not better. The save to CD fails more now than it ever has. And still can't get any of my modems to work, that do work fine with other distros.
Yes that Kppp.pup is still hosed!

Kppp.pup is still not installable.

Unless you want to crack it open and figure out what is wrong. I suspect that all the work of figuring out what to what to put in as a dependency for Kppp.pup when not running KDE is already accomplished by MU. Seems like there should be a command file that does the necessary Linux commands, like Su. Whatever else it takes to make a program active in Linux. Then copy all the files to the correct places.

Have you tried the Gnome PPP Dialer in Puppy 2.14?

Muppy has kppp.

Type in a consolewindow
kppp

Or drag it to your desktop:
/opt/kde/bin/kppp

jason,

you've got a working kppp on muppy. all you've got to do is copy all the relevant files to a directory, maintaining the correct file structure, gzip it, then ungzip it to you're puppy distro. whatzzz the problem??

there's probably an executable called kppp, in either /usb/bin or /usr/local/bin, and probably directories for kppp in /usr/lib & /usr/share, or /usr/local/lib & /usr/local/share.

Ok Jason try this,

Open your file search program in Muppy and type in your key word kppp. Copy all the files related to Muppy to Puppy from a disk or usb stick. I know it can be difficult but you may have to open each file to get it right.

On a personal note I would like to say I'm sorry if you read my message before I culled it last night. I was upset. It seems my XP caught a bug from my sister who is in my address book and I cut off AVG at the time because I was testing other software. My computer is fine now. The bug is gone. I wish I could switch to Puppy all the way but my processor fan wont cool because of XP not giving a crap about Linux. It seems XP is too forgiving.

I hope you get it right and stay with us. Have a good night.

XP dosen't control your CPU fan , Curious , Why did you think it does...?

If the CPU fan isn't working right , ( The speed controller that is ) Then wire it direct to a power source..., That way it runs no matter what...

Jason, perhaps Ed thinks XP controls his fan because the fan works ok in XP but not in Puppy.

I don't see the differance , In fact , i don't understand why a fan like that wouldn't work in another system ( puppy )...

The fan should be controlled by the motherboard , not software...

What I said was ACPI standard is not followed by XP because Microsoft is not strict when applying the ACPI standard meaning a lot of computers' processor fans work with XP and not with Linux because Linux complies to the standard the way it should.

However, this post is about your problem. How is it going? Did you fix it?
