Is it possible to Put Laptop into Standby and Resume?
Is it possible to Put Laptop into Standby and Resume?
Has anyone found a way to make Puppy 2.14 work with Suspend to RAM? I have a Acer 1355 Aspire Laptop with VIA Integrated Video Card.
I tried the scripts on the forum and the laptop goes into standby. After pressing a key, it wakes up but the screen is blank. The network is on, the X is running ( I pressed Up and enter and it went back to sleep) but the screen is black.
Any ideas? I've found a tool called powersave on https://sourceforge.net/projects/powersave (choose powersave 0.14 stable). Maybe someone could compile it into a dotpup and see if it's working?
Thanks

Re: Is it possible to Put Laptop into Standby and Resume?
I found a solution to part of the problem. I'm posting the steps here as it might be useful to some:
1. Download http://software.opensuse.org/download/h ... 3.i586.rpm and rename the file to suspend.rpm. The file is RPM package for suspend.sf.net project.
2. Download and install unrpm http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... ach&id=272
3. run rxvt cd to /tmp and mkdir s2ram.
4. Copy the downloaded suspend.rpm to s2ram directory. Then run unrpm s2ram. After it's done go to /tmp/s2ram/usr/sbin and run s2ram. This should suspend and resume the machine properly.
It should work. If it doesn't try the options on the opensuse site :
http://en.opensuse.org/S2ram
So the only remaining part is to automate this process. Does anyone know how to make Puppy run a script when closing laptop's lid?

Hi Mordor, I started a similar thread to this requesting that an improved suspend script be included in puppy 2.15CE. See here.:

Perhaps you would add some comments to this thread. I really is irritating when your laptop hangs because you close the lid, for whatever reason.
Cheers, mike.

I just closed the lid on this one, a Gateway m-520. Screen goes off & lights up when opened.
I know one laptop goes into suspend, when laptop is left & lid is kept up; screen comes back on but don't remember if with the mouse or hitting a key.
Works this way (both situations) without having done anything, in terms of setup. Wondered if there are some controls somewhere?

Hi again,
Moved the downloaded libx86 file to the /lib/ directory and I guess I am now one step further - now I get;
(I have moved the s2ram package to my homedirectory as it disappears at reboot otherwise...)
