Whatsdesk - Whatsapp linux client

#1 Post by watchdog »

Someone made a snap package (named Whatsdesk) of a desktop client for whatsapp. I have managed to download it and I have done a script in its dir named AppRun to launch it. It's working in ScPup64 latest.

Thanks a lot for your program, but I prefer to use RAMBOX, it has got a lot of options with very much services.

Try it.

Thanks

Hi @watchdog

Intrigued - downloaded and tested in ScPup64......

Needs GTK+3 ?? and even if this is installed all I get is a blank white window with 2 menu items that don't do anything useful.

Does it really 'work' for you in a pristine frugal install of ScPup64??

Thanks

Tested in a pristine install: gtk+3-3.18.9, at-spi2-atk-2.18.1, at-spi2-core-2.18.3 were needed.
Try in console:

Code: Select all

/path-to/whatsdesk/AppRun

Many thanks

Also needs an internet connection to start....

Seems to offer nothing additional to using a web browser to go to https://web.whatsapp.com/?? i.e. it is just a dedicated web browser?

You also seem to need a mobile phone - but that's the way that Whatsapp demands. :?

In /root/snap config files are saved: so if you use this client then you do not need to syncronize the pc with your smartphone every time you restart the browser (and deleting cookies, cache and history).
