How to get DVB-T Cinergy T2 TV tuner working?

#1 Post by zweiter »

Hello

i would like to know if its possible to get this tuner working in puppy:
Terratec Cinergy T2

I took a look at this two posts:
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 24&t=19043
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=16727
and also this:
http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/D ... gy_T.C2.B2

but im not sure if my tuner is supported in puppy or not.
And if this tuner is supported from where do i get the correct modules, firmware etc.?

Any help would be nice.
Thanks in advance

Hi Zweiter and welcome to Puppy,
try modprobing cinergyT2:

Code: Select all

modprobe cinergyt2
You will now immediately if you need anything!
and

Code: Select all

dmesg
to check if it cannot find the firmware. If everything is okay, follow the other threads!

thanks for reply,

i tried

Code: Select all

modprobe cinergyt2
and the result was:
FATAL: Module cinergyt2 not found.

So does it mean its not supported?
Or can i do something to get it work?

Its a USB Card and i plugged her in while puppy was running.
Would it make a difference when i have her plugged in before i boot?

Code: Select all

dmesg
returns a long text and i dont what to search for...
...me is very noob

Yes, follow the instructions in that earlier post -
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 787#122787
except that your module is "cinergyT2" instead of "dvb-usb-nova-t-usb2".

Regarding the firmware, according to the links provided here http://www.linuxtv.org/wiki/index.php/T ... Cinergy_T2
the firmware for your device is somewhat difficult to compile. It requires the Small Device C Compiler.
So I just downloaded the SDCC now, and packaged the firmware.

zweiter,
the module is "cinergyT2" not "cinergyt2".

And it would be useful if you told us which version of Puppy you are running.

your all quick here ;)

My Puppy version is 2.16.

I still dont understand where i can get the "module cinergyT2" and what to do with it.

I downloaded the firmware you uploaded (thx) which i guess will be installed by dotpet,
but i didnt installed it yet cause im not sure if i had to complete step 1 first(the module thing).

Is it best way to unplug the tuner till all is installed and then plug it in?

thx so far

Go ahead and install the firmware first. The cinergyT2 module needs to access this firmware as it loads.
Now to load the cinergyT2 module, do this -

Code: Select all

modprobe cinergyT2

Its working now :D
Thank very much.

Got some more questions:

after installation i saved the changes on my dvd, but after reboot i had to run modprobe ... etc
again. Is there a way to prevent this?

when i try to change the channel in Gxine it says:
The xine engine failed to start.
Is there any solution?

thx

I would advise you to try with Mplayer it's far better.

when i tried to save the changes with the working tuner,
puppy refused to save the changes to the dvd.
So i have to start all over. :(

A friend of mine was here and did the part with the channels.conf ,
now that i have to do it all over again, i just dont know how to
make the channels.conf or where to store her.
I saw a few sides in the Inet, but i just dont get it.
I have the "scan" program allready installed, but no plan how to use it.

Could you please help me again.

thx

hi

I'm new and I'm trying to install the cinergy t2 on macpup 528...

when I write "modprobe cinergyT2" on roxterm, I have this error:
FATAL: Module cinergyT2 not found.

I think I have installed the firmware dowloaded from this discussion...
CinergyT2-firmware.pet

then I've followed this part:
3. DVB device nodes created. The easiest way to do this is install this dotpet -
http://puppyfiles.org/dotpupsde/dotpups ... 6.18.1.pet
which will install the "MAKEDEV-DVB.sh" script. Run this script to create the device nodes.

but not sure I have installed it...
I wrote on terminale "MAKEDEV-DVB.sh" and:
Creating DVB devices in /dev/dvb/adapter0
chown: invalid user: `root.video'
Creating DVB devices in /dev/dvb/adapter1
chown: invalid user: `root.video'
Creating DVB devices in /dev/dvb/adapter2
chown: invalid user: `root.video'
Creating DVB devices in /dev/dvb/adapter3
chown: invalid user: `root.video'

with "lsmod" command I have this:

(it doesn't find also my huawei 156g that it's correctly installed... I'm using this internet key to write now...)

nothing changed... I have the same error when I write "modprobe cinergyT2":
FATAL: Module cinergyT2 not found.

last thing... I have full installation hd... and I've read this part:
If you get an error message something like "module does not exist" then it means that your zdrv file (Puppy driver collection) cannot be found ...
and it probably means you are using a full HD installation of Puppy. This problem is well known, and the solution is to uncompress the zdrv file into the Puppy filesystem. Instructions are eleswhere on the forum.

It could be this the problem?
(but if I understood the zdrv was a problem for older version of puppy linux...)

Can anyone help me?
thanks
(sorry for my english...)
