54M Wireless Cardbus Adapter on Puppy 4.3.1?

#1 Post by harryajh »

I have an old Compaq Armada E500 with a 54M Wireless Cardbus Adapter (PCMCIA) and trying to breath a bit of life in to it by running puppy 4.3.1

Puppy does not seem to recognize this network card though.

Is there a driver provided with Puppy that will work with my card? or will I have to buy another PCMCIA card? if so, any recommendations?

Do I need to do anything in puppy to get PCMCIA support before I start trying to load the PCMCIA modules?

thanks in advance

I think you need first to get the chipset info from the card manufacturer, and check for linux modules for that chip.

Same happened here with other network adapter:

Since there is a boot option called "nopcmcia", I guess PCMCIA support is enabled by default.

Wireless connectivity is entirely dependent upon the card's chipset. Nobody can help you without more information. What make, model and version of wireless card do you have?
