Bonjour à tous,
@ jemimah, one question :
pwireless2 2.7
first boot live CD : Connection with Ethernet cable only : no wireless device, Ethernet connection does not occur.
first boot live CD : USB wifi device is plugged, then Ethernet connection is set automatically.
Is this normal behavior for Pwireless2?
Cordialement

first i want to thank jemimah because my wife have no problems with wifi now with pwireless2
second i have wish if possible to combine all interfaces into one appliccation (like network wizard)
and the last question is to add localization template( gettext) for pwireless2

The latest version of Pwireless2 does have all the interfaces on the DHCP tab. You configure ethernet from there. I have no plans to add dialup at this point. What else is missing? It might be necessary to rename Pwireless2 since it does work on wired too. Any suggestions?
I will add localization to the todo list. It'll take some work and add some complexity. I may wait a few versions to make sure everything is adequately debugged before making things more complicated.

Why not simply Pnetwork? It might be necessary to rename Pwireless2 since it does work on wired too. Any suggestions?

Why some work out of the box (USB Wifi adapters)
I can well understand why this Pwireless thing is so interesting so I guess
I can blame jemimah and Pwireless2 Beta for getting me hooked
I had tryed Pwireless2 without any joy but it has at least put me on a road
to understanding more about USB Wifi Plugins and why some will work in Pwireless 4.3.1 and others require a driver. This was a senior moment for me.

Hmm, I'm not sure what driver that needs. Googling it comes back with a lot of references to Ndiswrapper, so maybe it has no native driver. You might have better luck posting on the hardware forum.
I don't think Pwireless has any code in it that would let it start up automatically at boot (it certainly never worked like that for me). You're probably going to either use network wizard, or see if you can find a workaround to get Pwireless2 to work.

I think WPA is the culprit on my machine
jemimah,I think I have finally come to the conclusion that the WPA Supplicant is the nature of my ills in the Beta . I DL the beta package and install the .pet. Then I reboot, before I even try to run Pwireless2 ,the blinky shows up with an x in it showing disconnected. How can this be ?
The Pwireless 4.3.1 doesn't show the blinky until after I have entered my
WEP passphrase which then shows connected. Then I simply quit and I am good to surf.Somehow WPA is installing itself before it is called and I think WPA is trying to install itself over the top of the first install and locking up my professor .I hope this helps you to figure it out because it will surely be a hit when operational. cheers

Here are the screens. After the 5thscr I can do a loop from 4th to 5th over and over and if I try to go anywhere else,I'm locked out.If I try to close or kill down on the taskbar,I can kill it but then if I try to reboot it says
Puppy is shutting down ,but it WON"T so I have to manually hold in the Power button 5 seconds to poweroff.

Hi jemimah,Since I realized you might need more confusion and being a
tea kettle and ,prone to spout off.I decided to add this.It has been many
moons since I did any C or prehistoric GWBASIC (Yes I am way past "Sale Date) and if this is in error, just blame old age. cheers

nope,it goes directly to scrn #4 and then goes loop between 4th and 5th.If i try to go to "profiles" it is blank and locks me out and none of the tabs function. Then it is time to Power Down.Boot Puppy Pfix=ram.delete
Pupsave in the memory stick and resave.
also I don't hide anything except in the case of scrnshots where I didn't think it appropriate to post PassPhrases and passwords for fear some clever folks could have too much fun. cheers
