#5 - Dominic - Power puppy pose

Managed to whip this up in about 20 mins using photoshop and flash.

I've decided to post a screenshot using the backgorund. The background image itself is 41kb and 1280x1024.

I posted a screenshot because i believe that it's important to see how icons look with backgrounds, like if the are easily visible.

I can post the background up if needed.

Here is a screenshot. I don't use puppy natively yet (im waiting for puppy2) so i just booted up off livecd, set the resolution, moved the icons into place and set the background. here you go.

If all agree, contest runs until march 20th..

#27 Post by PeterSieg »

Hi all. Since it was asked to have some more time, I would like to have the contest open for submissions until march 19th. Is that ok?

Starting from march 20th, I will start a poll/vote for all entries that have been made until then. Currently, we have 8 entries.

The poll/vote should last for at least app 14 days or minimum of app. 30-50 votes... we will see...

Let me know what you think..

PS
Have fun :)

I'm still new to gimp so this is the best I've came up with so far. If any gimp guru's like the concept they can run with it.

ideal for Puppy :)

I think this is excellent - I did suggest something similar for Empty Crust. It uses the three non distracting and neutral colours and emphasises the icons . . .

Sadly when I loaded it on my machine I got banding (as the software tried to stretch the smaller image)

So a high res one would be good . . .Saving in jpg will reduce the size

The letterring needs to move down.

Nice. Simple, professional, nondistracting. Works.
Sounds ideal for Puppy :)

I hope ljones will forgive me for entering this image into the competition

(see this thread, where I got it from before resizing it to remove the white edges at the top and right.)

In two versions - 100% quality .jpg and compressed to 62k

Big one:
http://dotpups.de/pics/puppy/praga6c.jpg

The background was announced in a forum, I think at http://fvwm.lair.be , but I can't find the posting again.
The file itself was posted at yourfilehost.com

I added with Gimp the Puppy-Logo from the Logo-Contest and added some filters.

Great to see, that now some more people taking part...

#38 Post by PeterSieg »

Hi everybody. Great to see so many new contest entries!
Until March, 20th we still have app. 10 more days...

My plan is to start a poll/vote on March, 20th for all entries and let this run
for app. 3-4 weeks.. Does that seems ok?

Now a question. First I do NOT want to make anybody disappointed!!
Therefore this question. We have some 'just pictures of dogs..' in this tread..
I personally don't know, if that was ment as an real contest entry...
That's something probably only the entry maker can answer..
So if someone that falls in this category, doesn't want this to be considered as an contest entry (for any reason), just let me know here.

Otherwise, I'll want to somehow make a nice list with screencopies for ALL
entries on March, 20th and start the voting...

Many thanks,
Peter Sieg (PS)
Have fun :)
