Never been a fan of this one, but felt a duty to try it again with Dillo. As a live CD, of course, it isn't 'turbo' anything - it doesn't have the well-documented turbo-boot. After all this time, it is unacceptable that the initial boot delay hasn't been fixed to a more reasonable value. With this version, although I am a great fan of Dillo, the only official version of Firefox in the repository is the old chesnut Bon Echo 2 and Opera, the fastest browser on Earth doesn't put in an appearance. No Flash in 2010 is not acceptable. Sorry, there are other, smaller, faster and better conceived offerings. If John's excellent, but ageing MeanPup isn't to your liking, try one of gray's derivatives, for example; Xin looks promising, too - if only I could get it to boot!
Oh yes, the final ignominy, it doesn't shut down on SiS, and doubtless all those other chipsets, despite BK having fixed this in most of the latest Quirkies. I deleted it.

There's a nice little package of the latest Opera snapshot I posted a few hours ago - check out the Quirky 1.0 feedback thread. It's smokin' fast (!)
A service pack (that will include Flash as well) is coming soonNo Flash in 2010 is not acceptable. Sorry, I deleted it.
P.S. Don't worry folks, I think I still have a copy of the original Turbopup Xtreme ISO somewhere. I'll reupload the ISO ASAP.
I lost my old burned copy of this... looking forward to you uploading ti again. Love what you've done with the puplet synth. And actually, I think it'd make an amazing base for a project Im working on. Any objections to taking your work and expanding on it some for another release here on the forums?synth wrote:P.S. EDIT:
I found my ISO copy and I am uploading it to Rapidshare until someone is able to put it on an offical server somewhere. Sorry for using Rapidshare, but it was my only option at the time.
You can download it with THIS LINK.

Time for Sourceforge/Launchpad
Hi,
I have to say that I love the work you have done. The Turbopup derivitive has a much better appeal than the original in the long term I believe.
I think it's time for a Sourceforge or a Launchpad page. This project should be expanded.
Thanks for your work,
Will

A band new package of Opera 10.54 has been posted today in the Quirky 1.0 feedback thread. This one is based on today's excellent snapshot - loads of fixes and improvements.
I removed even more stuff, so it's now the lightest package of Opera ever and uses much less resources if you follow the instructions I posted below the download link.
Enjoy!
Woof woof!

I am trying hard not to write a book here...synth wrote:A band new package of Opera 10.54 has been posted today in the Quirky 1.0 feedback thread.
I started with Puppy about a year and a half ago, so no expert.
At first I was disappointed that TP was V4.2 as 4.3 finds my IT8212 RAID and 4.2 will not. But now that I have Turbo installed on USB flash, I wonder why I would want a fussy RAID.
Looking at this huge box on the floor with NO hard drive, it seems a waste. Though I have been using Turbo only a short time it is my hope to see an embedded system some day.
Now the inevitable complaints. Opera 10.54 would not install, but now that I am using the built in Seamonkey successfully (and fast!), I am not at all concerned.
Intermittent problems include the occasional failure to save on exit, and failure to find a new USB flash (after boot) I use for other files.
In spite a few problems, I think this is the best thing to come along in a very long time. Thanks for all your hard work guys!

Turbopup is fantastic!
I am using a pII 233 with 128mb RAM and a CD-rom. USB is 1.1.
I tried installing XP, but i could not get an internet connection.
i tried win98, but it was missing tons of dll's.
With Turbopup, it found my PCI wifi card, and was replying to emails in less time than win98 could install!!
But, i cannot install the dang thing on my hard drive!!!
its infuriating- i did a clean reformatting in ext2. I ran through the universal install, no problem.
But it won't boot!
please help!

kernel retro
Hi
Fine idea - i need realy fast system for my Toshiba 330cdt laptop
• Intel® Pentium® with MMX™ (1.8/2.5V) at 266MHz
• 32MB EDO RAM standard, expandable to 96MB
• 512KB Pipelined burst level 2 cache
• PCI Architecture for optimal performance
• 4.0 billion byte (=3.82GB) hard disk drive
• Integrated 20x max. speed CD-ROM drive and floppy drive
• 12.1" diagonal, 800x600 TFT Active Matrix colour display
• Built-in sound system
• USB port for high speed connection to your USB peripherals
great as a typewriter in my work
Puppy run quite fast, but i need it faster
Turbo looks great, but
i need another kernel - my laptop run only on retro kernels, like this:
puppy-4.1.2retro-k2.6.21.7-seamonkey.iso
have you link to Turbo with this kernel?
Or can you tell me in a simple way (i'm no geek) how to run turbopup with this?
(acpi=off didn't work )

Puppy now installs! BUT...
So how do i save my settings? Or are they now done automagically?

I am almost 100% certain the occasional failure to save was because I had added enough files to make the save larger than the size I had allotted for the pup save file. Other pup versions I have tried prompt to ask if I want to increase it. (I think)Intermittent problems include the occasional failure to save on exit, and failure to find a new USB flash (after boot) I use for other files.
Also, I am now careful to close Seamonkey before I shutdown so that any new bookmark are preserved.
The more I use turbopup, the more I love it! So I have purchased a Toshiba Satellite on ePay to be my new turbopup machine, and retire this old clunker I am typing on right now.

I know this may sound pointless, but can you add Javascript to Seamonkey in Turbo
(or Turbo Extreme)?
Thanks in advance,
CP .

Facebook Chat on SeaMonkey
Does anyone know how to make Facebook Chat work on SM 1.1.15? I'm very pleased with the stability that I've seen with it on TurboPup Extreme on my Dumpster Dell.

Re: Facebook Chat on SeaMonkey
Hi. I've seen a thread in another part of the forum about speeding up Puppy's boot up. I've had the opposite problem; when I've tried to boot Puppy Turbo Extreme, it boots so quickly I've no time to type in options such as "pfix=ram" at the command prompt.
Has anyone got any ideas how I can insert, say, a five second delay so I can type in commands at the prompt to modify the bootup?
Thanks in advance,
Colonel Panic .

Thanks for replying. I'm booting from a live disk and can't find menu.lst; is it associated with Grub and a hard drive install?
