Missing Libs Package says install missing Lib not in Pupget?

#1 Post by john biles »

Hello Everyone,
Puppy is the coolest!!

Just one problem.
When I install new Packages from Puppy's Pupget, some of the packages require other packages (dependencies) which aren't in the Puppy repository?
Where do I go to download them.
I require a few, but for now can anyone help me with the following.

"Libstdc++.so.6 version GLIBCXX_3.4.4" required for Streamtuner.
"gtkmm" required for a few packages

Thanks

which Puppy do you use?

Streamtuner requires
http://dotpups.de/dotpups/Libraries/libstdc6.pup

If you use Puppy 2.10/2.100, this fix might be required:
http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=10664

I will repackage streamtuner this week.

Gtkmm might not work in older Puppys.
Since Puppy 2.10 a new version of Gtk is included, with Gtkmm.

For modern applications, Puppy 2.1x is a "must".

I seem to a have a library bug in my current system, will have a closer look tomorrow.

Hello MU,
That was quick reply!
I'm using Puppy 2.1 as for some strange reason Puppy 2.11 will boot up live and installs but upon reboot crashes when loading up on my computer.
( 2.6 Ghz Celeron Processor 512Mb's of Ram )

Maybe the problem is that I have Windows and 3 other Linux versions (non puppy) also on my computer.

Also there seems to be alot of other package Dependencies that aren't listed in Pupget, Are they being updated / rewritten for Puppy 2.11 and will return in time?

Lastly thank you for hosting this forum, you must have one hell of a computer!!

Update: I used your link to the person having the same problem after install KDE edited the file and it now works!! cool!!
Thank you MU

There is an addon for Puppy 2.01, that adds a new version of Gtk, so that you can run most modern applications:
http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=9599

It must NOT be installed in Puppy 2.10 or 2.11 :!:

Concerning Gtkmm:
the developper-addon includes a symlink, but I could find the library itself nowhere.
But Barry might have it.
I will write it to the bug-forum.
http://www.murga.org/~puppy/viewtopic.php?t=12278

At moment, I have no time to compile it myself :(

you can test this dotpup, that I made from Debian-libraries (1.7 MB):
http://dotpups.de/tests/Libgtkmm-libglibmm-2.4.pup

No guarantee that it works. At least I got no errors checking it quickly with ldd.

Please tell me, if it works (and what program you use to test it).
