Lyx - better way to write documents

#1 Post by totolanio »

Hello,

I would like to work on Lyx and I installed it from this page
http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 431#864431

But when I try to run it, it keeps popping errors about "missing classes" like "article.cls" and others. So I suppose it's missing tons of things !

Here is a link to the official site : http://lyx.org

I would like to use it for Lxtahr which is based of Tahr Pup 6

Thank you if you can help !

On another linux distribution based on ubuntu 14.04, I installed Lyx and had the same problem, so I installed TexLive and it solved the problem.
In the package manager, there are tons of different packages called texlive, so I don't know which one to download. I only want to write guides, tutorials and texts for now, so n o need for maths nor science etc
If someone has an idea.

I don't know "lyx" or "texlive",
but logically, you could simply install "texlive-full_....".
or start with "texlive-base_..." or "texlive-binaries_.." and then add others that look like they may contain anything that's missing.

It's been some time since I looked at TexLive, but isn't texlive-full something like 4Gb?? That can't be necessary?

Shit I forgot I wrote a message here, sorry guys.
Yes, texlive full is very huge that's why I didn't want. In top of that it takes long to install it :(
