RoxTerm Discontinued

#1 Post by slavvo67 »

It appears that the RoxTerm project has ended....

https://sourceforge.net/p/roxterm/discu ... it=25#9f0e

I have always liked the RoxTerm interface, so it's a dark day finding out that RoxTerm is done..... It looks like the project started back in 2006, so a 10 year run is nice but it's shame to see it end...

R.I.P.....

That's odd. There's stuff on the "news" page that's timestamped 2011.

Hello Slavvo,

Doesn't that mean that Rox Term was perfected and no further work was necessary?
It seems an excellent app for Puppy and not once has crashed.
Got Tango and Font options and best of all, control C ,X and V!
A recognition of success by the maker not a funeral.

If only the same could be said of Rox Filer.

according to the info, roxterm has issues with gtk3, which the author of roxterm feels would require a complete rewrite.

Unfortunately, William is correct. Unless the author decides to rewrite from scratch, it seems like we will need to find a replacement for RoxTerm. Of course, Puppy by default does not come with RoxTerm but it has been my preferred terminal....

RoxTerm is probably the choice for a puppy user, i have installed version 2.9.7... i think it's the last gtk2 version (2014).

Although one thing i noticed is that it can be a bit complicated to compile.. but that's it.

Another good alternative, a generic tiny terminal emulator is LXTerminal.
