Wireless Router problem

#1 Post by kuman »

I can't connect wirelessly to my dual band Dlink router. The wired link is fine. Changed passwords, still the same. it's seen on the list of active providers. Doesn't accept any password.

You need a network card that will receive the same bands as the router.
You need to know the SSID that is being used.
You need to know the WEP or WAP access key
and you may have to provide the router with the MAC address of the card you are using to access it.

To determine whether it's a security issue or a wireless issue, try setting the WAP with NO security and try connecting.

If it connects ok as an "open" WAP then the issue is with the WEP/WPA settings. If you still have problems connecting with it "open", then we need to look at hardware/drivers.
