ALL Photo storage is unlimited and Free on your Google ID

#2 Post by gcmartin »

OOTB, Google gives, everyone with a Google ID, 15GB free. Further, from time to time they provide "breadcrumbs" to add to your existing 15. Over the years, I'm up to 31GB of free cloud storage accessible by the fastest 24x7 download site to general users in the world.

Since 2015, Google allows every user the following.
  • 15GB for files and storage that is NOT multimedia
  • Multimedia (including your pictures) are separate and FREE! Your multimedia files are NOT counted as part of your 15GB
Pay attention to what Google advises for setting you Drive's folders so that you take advantage of what they give you.

Lastly, if you have a smartDevice, adding Google's Photo app will allow all multimedia files shot with your camera to be automatically back-stored on your Google ID. In fact, if you use your smartDevice properly, after photos/movies are taken, you can remove them from your smartDevice's storage keeping them on your Google Drive. This allows permanent management of ALL of your photos accessible from your Phone or PC whenever you want, while not cluttering your smartDevice's storage with the media.

Retrieval is fast and instant.

Hope this is helpful for those who have smartDevices who want free permanent storage to back up the media they create.

Note: If you are a University Professor or student, you get unlimited storage for your use, across the board; namely all files, mulitmedia or not.
