Something random --- If you have dreams of recording an 18 hour video with Pavrecord in Slacko, don't be surprised if the audio stops recording at exactly 3:20:53 (3 hours, 20 minutes, and 53 seconds) while the video continues to record. I tried this twice, saving to /mnt/sda2/capture (not in ram) on a drive with a lot of space, the first time using 320kbps mp3 cbr and the second time using 192kbps mp3 cbr, and each time the sound stopped recording/writing to disk at exactly that second. I wonder what the significance of 3:20:53 is... (I told you this message would be random, but it's true ).
Barring any better advice ... rings a bell, but I can't recall from whereSailor Enceladus wrote:Something random --- If you have dreams of recording an 18 hour video with Pavrecord in Slacko, don't be surprised if the audio stops recording at exactly 3:20:53 (3 hours, 20 minutes, and 53 seconds) while the video continues to record. 200 minute XML sound setting in ffmpeg or something like that. I did a quick google search to no avail.
@sailor.. 32 or 64? Might be an integer overflow. 64 should fare better.
BTW.. can you point me to that firmware sfs that you use to fix your wireless?

No idea what would cause that... I would be interested to know if weX has the same issue - I'm of course hoping it doesn't. I suggest that weX performs better than pAVrecord anyway. Though it also relies on ffmpeg to do the underlying recording, weX works differently (recording audio and video streams at same time whereas pAVrecord records them separately and then joins them at the end).Sailor Enceladus wrote:Something random --- If you have dreams of recording an 18 hour video with Pavrecord in Slacko, don't be surprised if the audio stops recording at exactly 3:20:53 (3 hours, 20 minutes, and 53 seconds) while the video continues to record. Hmmm... just read that the plastic ends up converted to ethylene glycol (antifreeze...). Alas that ethylene glycol is more than a little toxic (and can apparently cause abnormal births if pregnant women exposed to its fumes as far as I've read elsewhere). Perhaps I'm missing something about this wonder-process?

Flashplayer
Hi to all,
Ageing FF ESR 45.4 is throwing out flashplayer 25.
I see there aren't any flash updates in the pipeline from OscarTalks yet?
Regards.

Current FlashPlayer version appears to be 25.0.0.148
This is the one I have as .pet packages right now.
http://smokey01.com/OscarTalks
Recommended method is to use GetFlash or Flash Updater though.
Update the updater utility if necessary.
What do you mean when you say FF is throwing out FlashPlayer?
Slackware have Firefox updates available now too.

Re Flashplayer
Thanks Oscar,
Yes I'm using flash 25.0.0.148 and now FF 45.9ESR in Slacko 6.9.6.4,
released I think in Sept 2016, so a bit dated now as technology is
changing so fast.
Flash updater says it can't contact the server, which seems to
happen quite soon after the distro is released, so no joy there.
Thrown out, meaning;
In FF add-ons, the usual time-out "distress" message in red appears,
"Shockwave Flash is known to be vulnerable and should be updated
- update now"
You must have seen that notice many times over the years.
So there we are stuck in limbo, although you can manually
override failed flash to work, in say the BBC Live News 24 UK;
that's www.bbc.co.uk/news/10318089.
Cheers.

Apologies to Oscar
Apologies to Oscar.
FF & Flash is now working correctly with revision 148.
I got confused with the numbers as I'm getting on a bit.
I've always wondered why flash has such a short shelf life
between revisions.
It's only a small file so why can't compilers write code
to get it right without vulnerabilities?
The hackers should get proper jobs instead of making the
publics lives a misery.
Thanks, cheers.

Turns out this was really easy to add. I just made a 7z-wrap.sh that uses 7z instead of 7za to extract rar instead of 7z. Only tried it on two rar archives so far though so perhaps it could be improved (attached as a pet).Sailor Enceladus wrote:I noticed that even though Slacko 6.9.x doesn't have unrar (and the one in Slackware doesn't align the fields in Xarchive correctly), you can use 7z to extract rar archives. I wonder how hard it would be to make a 7z wrapper for rar instead...

" touchscreen right click - hold with one finger and tap with a second finger "
Xvkbd included in Slacko 6.9.6.4 on use by Medor, our french expert, with a wacom Fujitsu siemens. (Screenshot here joined).
However Argolance has Issued an improved version of XVkbd including a GUI for modifying appearance.
Curious users and testers are welcome here xvkbasiconf & xvkbjwmbasiconf
- touchscreen right click - hold with one finger and tap with a second finger
my Medion is 64 bits but not touchscreen. I had a samsung offered in the past, to travel with it as i was said. But i offered it to my grandchildren.
I generally use Puppies 32 bits version, because no trouble and applications are numerous., and drivers for wireless antennas are availbale for kernels 3.14.55 (Slaxen 6.3.2) , making my laptop able to surf indoor and outdoor.
I load Slacko 64 to check if i was wrong and to feed back about XVkbd to Medor.
I suppose that Slacko 6.9.6.4 is for indoor usage only, is it ?
Surprise my antenna is recognized !

Hi
How to install NOW the flashplugin (the prepared getflash utility seems not to be usable one year later! what is with a stable version)?
Why Firefox (as the most versions from BK uses seamonkey? Is that the problem? Firefox is today a very bad commercial entreprise!!!)?
youtube download?
which Puppy 64 bit comes with both PREINSTALLED?

Adobe keeps moving the download location for FlashPlayer, so the Getflash program has to be updated to reflect the change.
See if this one works.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Wacom graphics tablet works in slacko64-6.9.6.4-uefi.iso
Fortunately it has the needed wacom.ko driver.
I have to make a couple of modifications
1) xorg.conf file
2) install rules
I explain more in Wacom page.
