I have IBM X31. Slacko 6.3.0
Think i'm going to die. Pressed something in ALSA wizard and now i got no sound in YT. Firefox, opera no difference,
Audio in AVI files plays ok.
This happens to me not the first time and might be the only reason to say goodbye to using puppy linux.
I know. Reinstall. But how many times? Sick. I want to get rid of the problem manually... aaa...
Edited alsa."cunt"fig. No luck.
Got ThinkPad X31+Slacko6.3.0 - No sound only in YT!

Also blacklisted stuff, prioritized modules.
Only thing changed i can fcuk sound up and there is no sound at all (no volume bar in tray).
EDIT:
Just staring reinstall. Last chance to help me.
ps. Which distro is nice for this old 32 bit architecture PC (IBM X31)?
I think this Slacko 6.3.0 is unstable and now is corrupted somehow = freezes/crashes.
Not sure my hardware is perfectly fine so...

My god...
now i have problem with Tahr on my other machine.
Guess what? All my icons dissapeared from desktop except drives.
Sweet.
I remember i found "choose default icons on desktop" somewhere, but now i cant find it now.
Using puppy linux becomes more and more frustrating.
I consider stop using it, since its saturday and forum is kinda DEAD still...
why God?

As ally said I would make a backup of your savefile/savefolder where everything is working so that if you play around with options, any unknown screw-ups can be easily restored to normal. You might also consider upgrading to 6.3.2 or 6.9.9.9:safbto1st wrote:I know. Reinstall. But how many times? Sick. I want to get rid of the problem manually... aaa...

Careful of what versions of pet packages you install.
I see you installed a pet made for puppy 4.xx to slacko 6.3
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic. ... 400#974400
That can create problems.

Response at last!
Too bad i smashed LCD today with my headphones, so X31 is dead.
Reinstalled Slacko 6.3.0 just before, and the sound came back to FF.
@perdido This package was working 100% ok.
Actually today i can say my XP Home works better than puppy (somehow) on ASUS A6000.
Definitely will try debian dog and euclid.
Ps.Distro: tahrpup 6.0.1 does not have option to back to default desktop icons like Slacko 6.3.0.
CASE CLOSED
ps. how to close thread here / mark solved?
