Cinelerra was completely functioning on Bionic....
rolled back my save file....
reinstalled the Pet...
now it doesn't start at all...
attempted re-installing Flowblade just in case it had some shared dependencies with Cinelerra...
that didn't resolve the issue...
~shrug~
clueless right now what the problem actually is...
Does anyone have some helpful tips?

LDD is now saying: cinelerra-w5-4-2a.pet unpacked @ /mnt/home...
Best suggestion for the next step?
getting closer... after filling in missing dependencies
Flowblade is still kaput... not showing any errors in LDD

kept obsessively searching....
fortunately found Mike's BIG "Archive" of PUPs...
grabbed v5 of Cinelerra and made that functional...
Not the best video editor ever used...
fast learning curve...
covers the basics...
way better than oldschool editing on 3/4" tape decks using manual EDL logs...
hmmmm....
Does anyone have clue if it uses version 1 or 2 FFGS FreeFrame effects?

menus for Wine

#26 Post by mikeslr »

Hi n01ze,

Just in case you haven't found it already, if you are using Wine portable there's a listing on the Menu that will display every program which installs (but not Window portables which can't be installed into "Wine data": Menu>System>Wine Windows Program Loader.

See this post about creating Wine Menus for builtin programs, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 255#882255 and this one for the programs you add, http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewto ... 296#814296

Also, as I run multiple Puppies and use Wine, it's just easier to run the Windows version of Avidemux (32-bit) than multiple Linux versions. The Windows version is usually updated earlier than the Linux version. There are quite a number of Window media related programs which run under Wine. WineHQ doesn't report about them all, and never about portables which often run even when 'installables' don't. So you just have to download them and test for yourself.

@ n01ze:-

Agree with Mike on that one.

Since I share one, external 'install' of WINE between multiple Puppies, I have a .pet, comprised mostly of sym-links, that simply replaces the original entries after I've manually deleted them. I then have a whole bunch of custom Menu entries that simply 'link' me into WINE in the appropriate places.....

The usual formula is to have a script in /root/my-applications/bin that calls the Windows executable via WINE. You then have a .desktop entry in /usr/share/applications that calls that, and you find a suitable icon (PNG format is best, anywhere from 128x128 up to 512x512 will work, 'cos ROX auto-resizes everything back down to 48x48 anyway.....but the larger & more detailed the icon to begin with, the sharper the 48x48 version will be.) You stick this in /usr/share/pixmaps, and call it from there.....

I've attached one of my 'custom' entries to this post. Unzip it, and study how it's been put together.....

In the /root/my-applications/bin script, note the use of 'wine[space]' at the start. The quotation marks are around the stanza because Bash doesn't like spaces in the wrong places..! (Think about it...)

The .desktop entry follows standard FreeDesktop.org layout practices.

Mike.

shotcut-win32-150502.exe under Wine

#28 Post by mikeslr »

As long as you're running Wine, you might want to try shotcut-win32-150502.exe, from here, https://github.com/mltframework/shotcut ... tag/v15.05. I haven't done much with it beyond installing, opening it and opening an already existing vid which ran.

I've tried a couple newer versions, including the latest 32-bit, without success. But there are many versions since May 2015. Perhaps one of the many versions I didn't try will work. But I doubt it. Version 16.11 and the newer versions I tried opened, but did not provide a GUI for the entire program.

Shotwell installs its folder to Wine-portable's wine-data/drive_c/Program Files. So Wine-portable's Wine-Windows Program Loader will open a functioning version. If the version you try doesn't function, browse into the above identified Program Files folder and just delete the Shotcut folder.

Unfortunately, Shotcut appears to have stopped building 32-bit Linux versions after the 15 Series.

All the feedback on this for my noobish questions is appreciated.
That alias method via linking into wine space is sort of what was suspecting... yet may have found another method poking around puppy/wine combo.
Let me see if that openshot installs on one of my w32 rigs... that may be solution for another issue regarding mp4 editing/comp on those machines.
Anyways... need starting some new threads here regarding AV R&D for Puppy pet creation plus manifesting my bionic core studio build.
Petmaker is installed on this machine...
reminds me of one of my old install makers...
thus most likely the process is what intuitively presuming.
Anyways... next on my list...
creating custom superdark #000#111#8b0000#ff0000#fff theme aka "skinjob" for this Puppy.
You guys Rule.

Hello n01ze,

I mainly use virtualdub, via wine, as it allows me to edit between frames, unlike avidemux. If you want to try an sfs of the latest VirtualDub2 that I cobbled together, download here:

VirtualDub2.sfs

Note it includes 32 & 64 bit binaries, but I've only tested it on peebees Lx64 &
32 bit artful pup, using version2013's latest 32 & 64bit wines.

Also, make sure not to save a video uncompressed, as the result will be huge. Instead use Video>Compression & select either 8 or 10 bit x264. I tried to add the xvid compressor, but was unsuccessful.

N.B. I just noticed the png is showing the xvid codec, but that's from my pre-existing install. I recall it took several tries for VirtualDub to see it, but have forgotten how I previously managed to do so!

Thanks for the virtualdub.sfs!
Currently AviDemux & Cinelerra is operational for me...
have some minor experience with VirtualDub in the past...
in Audio mode now with my bionic puppy
