Gigafast Wireless WF741-UIC

I have a Gigafast USB wireless adapter model WF741-UIC. The
Linux Driver can be found here, but I do not know what to do with it. How do I install it so I can use it?

Before chasing around using unconfirmed driver sources like a frantic Windows refugee, slow down and check the drivers already available in Puppy.
Under Puppy 4.3.1 the
prism2_usb driver should be compatible. If the Network Wizard does not confirm this, then we need to know the USB device ID of your Gigafast WF741-UIC. Please run this command
and post the results.

N series will work OK in a late model pcmcia USB2 socket adapter, but most won't work with early pcmcia slots - later slots aren't really pcmcia at all, they are cardbus
pcmcia is 16bit, cardbus is 32bit
On occasions, my experience has been that in poor reception circumstances the N series switches down to normal 802.11g spec 55mb/s from around 200mb/s

Notes & Issues: Using pup-431bcm4312v3.iso seems to be the only option that works "out of the box" for this wireless card.
Broadcom B43 works with Lucid Puppy

The setup screen says it's a "PCMCIA" device, but it is entirely inside the computer. This is a wireless adapter that did not work with previous versions of Puppy Linux. I booted Lucid from a flash drive, and the network wizard configured my wireless by itself on the first try.
I am quite pleased, as this was the barrier to me adopting Puppy.

Welcome to Puppy!
If you disassemble a Wifi PCMCIA card you will discover that it is mostly just a shell with a card inside of it. That is what you have inside of your computer.

It works out of the box(no driver needed), with: WEP,WPA,WPA2(TKIP-AES)
Works with version 4.1.2 and up through 5.x.x
Just set it up through the Connect button on the desktop. Also it might be a good idea for those who use 3G LAN ZTE MF600 modem(not USB) and AP or Router to give this(SMC) an Static IP.

WiFi protocols: 802.11g tested, I assume b and a are valid and working as well
Security: WEP tested (128-bit key)
Being a newbie, a got a Netgear WPN111 usb card working with Lucid Puppy 5.2 after some modifications.
Firstly I tried to use the Puppy network wizard. Even after loading ndiswrapper and using the proper card .inf file, there was no new interface reported.
Then I followed the following advice found in the net:

ndiswrapper -m
modprobe ndiswrapper
After the last command, I got the following:
WARNING: Deprecated config file /etc/modprobe.conf, all config files belong into /etc/modprobe.d/.
Then I copied the following line from /etc/modprobe.d/ndiswrapper.conf to /etc/ndiswrapper.conf:
and after that I got Netgear WPN111, using the Atheros 2414 chip, to be seen by Puppy as a valid new interface.

I was able to utilize ndiswrapper to install the windows driver. After some trial and error Puppys connection wizard was able to get me online! I had been working on this for a year! I was finally able to revive an old Thinkpad 570 with NO optical or floppy drives! It's slow but it works. Now I just need to find a lightweight browser to speed things up a bit. Puppy rocks!!
D-link DWL-G650 a no go?

I still haven't found a way to get my D-link DWL-G650 PCMCIA card working with Puppy Linux 5.2. I didn't see it in the list of confirmed cards, so I might be out of luck. Pity though since it works fine under Ubuntu and Fedora.

Hey everyone - I'm new to this forum
I have been welcomed to the world of Puppy Linux as of 1 week ago. My Windows XP system won't boot up and I am using Puppy Linux CD to boot my computer and transfer my files to an external hard drive before I try something like a fixmbr command...probably will end up doing a clean install and then also installing Puppy Linux too
I can't get my wireless card to detect via the network wizard and am using Lucid Puppy 5.2. I have an ASUS P5LD2 deluxe motherboard (few years old now) with an inbuilt Wireless card.
As detailed in the Puppy hardware info, my wireless chip is a:
Marvell 88W8335 [Libertas] 802.11b/g Wireless (rev 43)
I have tried loading various modules, including one for Marvell and they load up but then I get a message saying nothing new was detected. I have also tried using ndiswrapper to load up the windows driver.
This is the tricky part - I can't get into Windows to see what the actual driver name is so I've tried loading a couple of .inf files that I thought were correct, but this doesn't detect any cards either. I've tried the driver CD also but that didn't do anything either. My ethernet adapter works fine.
Any ideas? I can post further hardware info here if required.

Drivers are dependent on card versions, as chipsets are often changed/updated
I think that card usually uses the madwifi or PrismGT driver

The DWL-G650 is quite an old card, and has been reported to work fine with Puppy versions in the past.
I suspect your problem possibly relates to PCMCIA interface failure, which has been reported before with the Puppy 5.x series. See here for a fix -

The MADWiFi driver (ath_pci) is deprecated in modern kernels, in fact the Puppy 5.x series doesn't even include it.
It's been replaced by the ath5k driver.

Well generally the Marvell 88Wxx wifi devices have never had native Linux support, so your only option would be to use ndiswrapper with the Windows driver ... but ...

Google tells me that the "deluxe" version of this motherboard has a combined Wifi/TV-tuner card, that's interesting!

Yeah it's got a tv tuner on here too
Well I'm on the iPhone now but I booted up puppy to run that command. Can't paste it to you as my Internet isn't hooked up without me running a cable halfway across the house. I think the output you're after is this line:
