Yes, well, that's why there's an hplip-lite package. 300MB for the full hplip is ridiculous.

Exactly. My goal would be to succeed in running hplip-package and beeing able to use the scanner ...
I tried full hplip only to realize if my scanner worked with full version and to understand something more for finding a way to use it with hplip-lite .
But I'm loosing any hope ...

I'm afraid not to be able to help. I do not know how to manage with HP scanners that require plugins and incorporate them in hplip-lite.

Thank you very much lluamco. However it's been very kind of you.
If anybody else can help me ... I'm always here.

@neversaynever: Are you still interested in this issue? There may be some things to try.

Hi rcrsn51.
I've solved the problem with vuescan, but if there was a hplip-lite package solution I'd be interested in knowing it.
I'd like to understand something more
Thank you

@neversaynever:

Please check your messages. I am going to send you some things to test.

[Edit] No reply? That's unfortunate. This could have been useful information for other community members.

@lluamco: We were unable to resolve the problem of HP scanner plugins.

@rcrsn51: Thank you to let me know. I had the feeling that you could finally overcome the difficulties. Pity...
I have some sort of idea of what should be done, but I lack of knowledge about udev rules and python. I have asked for help in the hplip questions forum, but without succes until now. If you are interested I can try to explain it to you, may be via PM.

New to the Forums.
Lucid Puppy 5.2.5
Have a Brand New HP Deskjet 2540 All In One Printer.
Have installed the libnetsnmp-15.pet and hpliplite-3.14.3.pet from the first page.
Have run the ln -s /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.0.9.8 /usr/lib/libcrypto.so.1.0.0 creating the Link.

Sane is not recognising the scanner.

sane-find-scanner -v -v is reporting the scanner but complaining that it doesn't know the chipset.

What I have noticed is there is no hpaio.conf file in the etc/sane.d directory.

Have not as yet had the chance to try on a clean install.

lluamco has not been around lately, so let me make some suggestions.

1. Is there a reason why you are using Lupu 525? There are many newer Puppies. At the least, I would recommend the long-term stable Lupu 528.

2. Your comment about chipsets suggests that the driver did not install correctly.

3. There is no file /etc/sane.d/hpaio.conf in the driver. However there should be an "hpaio" line added to /etc/sane.d/dll.conf.

4. I would suggest a clean Puppy setup and install the hplip driver again. Or look at the alternate hplip drivers here. These are confirmed to work in Lupu 528.

Thanks for the reply, had already read through that post when I was looking for the drivers originally.

Puppy 5.2.5 is what's burnt onto the CD and WAS the latest when I first started using it. To this point I've had no need to upgrade it.
There is no HPAIO entry in the dll.conf file, there is hpaio so files that were added by the Pets to Sane though.
What I did notice about the so files is that in /usr/lib/sane it appeared that all the other so files had a version without an numeric extension except the libsane-hpaio.so.1 / libsane-hpaio.so.1.0.0 files.

Not with the Deskjet currently so can't currently try a PFIX startup.

Request:

I am looking for someone with a Laserjet multi-function unit where the printer or scanner component needs a special plugin.

Please post a message in How to Install Your Printer/Scanner in Puppy.
