update to nicons-v1.8 niui (gui)
now can delete wallpapers.

Add puppypin/wallpaper per desktop. And ability to see icons while drawing icon path.

Draw functionality is now different from the original (still available as command line option 'nicons add' > 'dr') . Now simply select Layout 'Draw' then a yad list opens allowing multiple selections of icons that will be 'added' to existing set by drawing icon path. There is a delay of one second between icon addition, giving time to position cursor. Note new Draw does not remove previous icons but adds to them. To remove icons use 'Remove All Icons' on gui (niui) first.

Star layout now starts from inside and lays icons towards the outer ring.

Left and right layout now allow only one vertical column of icons.

I have added some base colour .png files for wallpapers.

Crop Circles
Triangles, polygons, Initials

I have found the way to draw the layout styles in real time so that user can watch icons being layed out on the desktop in selected patterns. This also adds the function of stringing styles together. First I need to find out how to limit number of items selected from a yad list.

EDIT: no need to limit yad list selection, just use counter for loop - duh

The implications of this is that the gui can be simplified in some respects and positioning and size of shapes can be governed more easily by user with the addition of a few dials or sliders. Origin can be set with xdotool, ie draw a circle here, with radius=n and no. of icons=n1(counter) and total degrees=n2

Other things to think about include live wallpapers (Dancing icons). Desktop per Display (screen or monitor).

Fixed leftandright style.
Added FreeCircle = takes number of icons selected by user and draws a circle centred on the cursor position. More icons = bigger circle! less icons = smaller circle! Add as many circles as you like!

I sent you this link in our first PM, the one that got mysteriously lost. It's like a GTK 'bible', with code snippets, so you can pretty much copy-paste your way into whatever you want to do. I post it here instead of a PM so that maybe other people can profit of it too.

Thanks I actually have a gtk reference pdf with functioning example scripts, which I went through. However I seem unmotivated until I have an idea/vision of what I think it should be, then I strive to achieve it.

After creating a circle select each of the icons making it and drag them together anywhere on the desktop. Restart X to deselect icons (bug)

Added left/right panel open/close.

New function added: Restore Icon Labels. Limitation is that it cannot yet restore icon labels if they were removed before using nicons 3.7 . But that will be possible later.

As more functions are added I will need to redesign the gui, probably adding a tab.

Removed offset of n pixels from right side of screen. Removed restart wm. Simplified niui (gui) layout.
