At that pricepoint, its a simple step to adding to the home LAN alongside the other IoT useful items coming available to all of us. Puppy LANs are expanding with benefits.

I'm in!

Here are some videos about Remix OS:

Voice-over is English, but it is a pity the screens are in Chinese. I was able to pickup the basic ideas though.

don570,
That's interesting:
For now it's Nvidia Tegra4 based, and they are designing a next generation with a faster ARM processor and with a design that doesn't look as similar to a Microsoft Surface tablet
Their current tablet is heavy and some of its design has been criticized, so I would like to see what they come up with next -- and if they put it up on Kickstarter at a low price!

I think Allwinner is trying to encourage remix team to use a 40 nm chip
rather than the current standard of 28 nm. Allwinner buys (most ??)
of its chips from a Chinese fab (SMIC) to keep its cost down ( $5 per chip)
I read on a site that this fab is having problems converting to 28 nm

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_s ... ion_plants

There is very little written on internet about this chip but it must be 40 nm
and a server chip design that has been simplified so that it can be mass produced.

Also Allwinner probably wants to avoid Qualcom's Snapdragon 410
design which is 28 nm and is designed for a phone and is more expensive.

Remix OS runs on Intel processor

Selling on Ali for US $224.89 including shipping but no keyboard
http://www.aliexpress.com/item/2015-New ... 65662.html

Tech details:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/android ... e-t3149762

It uses Android 4.4 rather than 5.0.

A post on Remix forum from the remix people says that the Intel process used
hasn't been ported to Android 5.0 so don't expect this version of remix to
be improved until somebody does the coding to make this processor
Intel Z3735F compatible.

Here's the post on remix forum

Ron,

Cube's I7 chipset has currently not been made compatible with Android 5.0. When that happens, the upgrade to 1.5 and 2.0 will be possible. Thanks for your support!

Allwinner has put a lot of work in designing a book style computer
running remix os and using Allwinner A83T which is 32 bit processor manufactured
in Taiwan using 28 nm process.
In September 2014, Allwinner announced the Allwinner A83T, an octa-core
tablet processor that packs eight highly energy-efficient Cortex-A7 cores
that can run simultaneously at up to around 2.0 GHz. It also includes a
PowerVR GPU. The first tablet with the chip is expected to hit the market in
Q4 2014.[20]

Chrome in other operating systems "should" too... although I've never been able to get Archon to work on my machine.

I like this but I think it still needs a little work. I'd like to wait and see were this will end up.
