broadcome firmware pet included but fails detection

#1 Post by boof »

Xenial64-7.5 has a pet for this driver, but I can't make it detected. I download the pet, run
modprobe -r b43 and
modprobe -r ssb,
modprobe wl and
depmod and
reboot (hot).
Driver is never found, even if I set it to load in menu>syatem>boot management. Then I see it load on boot, but it vanishes and never reappears. The driver is dated 20120920? These cards are a pain, and it's really small, abt 1/2 a form factor size. pls help me fix this OR suggest an ebay card that will fit and work.

If it the the same bcm43142 you've had running battles with, well I finally ditched mine. I got (from an 8 year old dead toshiba laptop) an Atheros AR9285. Same size card, goes well, via ath9k. My current 7 year old toshiba has a Realtek RTL8188E. Also goes well, via 8192ce. Both are automatically detected by recent puppies (last 3 years).

Is this an internal network wifi adapter in a laptop?
If yes.
Look for a key combo that turns wifi on/off

A lot of laptops have this.
The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.
When I was a kid I wanted to be older.... This is not what I expected
YaPI(any iso installer)
