That's one odd colored horse to find, Proebler.

Ditto (as I'm sure PhilB already knows) aboard Bionic64 CE with standard kernel and JWM 2.3.7.

Note: MOVE popup window can be achieved by holding Alt & dragging it around.

Reverting to jwm 2.3.2 eliminates crash issue, whilst avoiding the scrollwheel changing desktops issue in 2.3.6, but although I made an ScPup64 .pet, it loses tray in bionicpup64. Not a realistic solution.

I have a feeling I saw a post by MochiMoppel somewhere that offered a way around the annoying behaviour of scrolling through desktops. Will post back if I can locate it.

@greengeek - looked at that again today - sadly, doesn't work in jwm 2.3.6 for ScPup64 & probably others.

I have an old broken laptop: For a width of 3 inches from top to bottom on the right, the pixels are dead. As a result, only a part of the notification tray at the bottom is visible.

Is there a file modification that could start the tray 3 inches to the left (facing screen) of where it now starts?
TIA for your assistance.
bigpup graciously repliwd:
/root/.jwmrc-tray is the config file for the tray.

The settings at the beginning of this file control tray position.
Could try to change them.
layout="vertical" will put the tray vertical along the left side of desktop.
halign="center" will place it in center.
halign="right" is used to place it vertical, on right side, when layout is set to vertical. Halign="left" is normal for all other settings.

I looked in quickly at all the files in .jwm/jwmrc with "tray" in the title, but found nothing remotely resembling your description. I'll look again, but please help me zero in on the appropriate file.
Thanks

it should be in folder "root" and not in folder ".jwm".

To alter 12/24 hour setting
Try MENU --> Desktop --> JWM Windows Settings --> Clock

Works on older JWM's maybe this one too.

*** PS: what version of fribidi is installed in the problematic/non-problem versions... JWM 905 using 0.3.1 dated 3/2014 ***

window manager bug?

#809 Post by gychang »

Enjoying the latest BP32 (upupbb), one nagging problem as pictured. I am only getting "minimize" button showing up,..

Installed to HD partition, frugal. Everything else seems to work well.

---

spontaneous recovery?, few hours later of using the PC, now I am getting the proper all 3 buttons showing up!, don't know what I did, but the problem is resolved...

@gilloraymondo - as peebee said driver you specified is there, so need to check your equipment & look for errors.
Please run following commands & post results:

lscpi -nn | grep -i network

dmesg | grep -i firmware

dmesg | grep -i error

I've uploaded 'huge-4.9.227-gyro-pae.tar.bz2' to http://www.mediafire.com/folder/21fyvbi4xglau/kernels, for BionicPup32.

This kernel package does not contain any firmware, it requires the presence of an fdrv...sfs.

This kernel provides much improved support for mmc storage devices, based on BK's 'DOTconfig-5.4.12'.

Get Libreoffice is no longer working for 32bit Puppy versions.
The Libreoffice web site no longer offers a 32bit version.

So, you probably did not do anything by running Get Libreoffice.

I just tried it in Bionicpup32 8.0
Get Libreoffice just gave errors and did nothing.
The Document Foundation doesn't provide 32bit binaries for Linux for 6.3.0 anymore.
Please pick a 64bit variant from the dropdown if your system supports it or get LibreOffice from your Linux distribution's repositories instead.

The things they do not tell you, are usually the clue to solving the problem.

Here is a Libreoffice topic that offers other versions.
The 32bit are going to be anything older than Libreoffice 6.3
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=116963
I tried version 6.2.8 one in Bionicpup32
It works for me.
This is the sfs package of it:
https://drive.google.com/file/d/1J1nxE5 ... sp=sharing

Load it by using SFS-load-on-the-fly program.
It will put entries in Applications->Documents to run it.

There is also a pet package if you want to install instead of using sfs packages.

Thanks @bigpup....
phunghoang09 wrote:I can see the install do its thing and after a fairly long period, it eventually finished installing.
so what was GetLibreOffice doing for that "fairly long period" I wonder.

Needs reporting on the GetLibreOffice thread?

GetLibreOffice will have to be removed from 32-bit pups I guess....perhaps replace it with a forum link....
