A chart comparing various Puppies would be nice

A comparison table on the website for the various members of the family and puplets - covering main features and machine spec recommendations - would be really helpful.

I don't think I've missed it, and nothing turned up with a DuckDuckGo search, but apologies if I have.

I like the idea. What software do you think should be used to make said chart and which versions of puppy do you want to compare?

We have a wiki with information on different Pups would be very easy to join it and do something there example: http://wikka.puppylinux.com/puppy525

As you can see there are download links, original thread info any support, what it is aimed at hardware wise, Stock apps it comes with. Like I said easy to join up and contribute to.

According to our archivist ally, there are over 5,000 Puppies!

So lots of patience, research and note-taking will be required!

Best of luck!

We could do a top 10 or top 20.

"Official", eh? More like "Communist Party Line" Puppies, I'd say!

That leaves out all the Puppies where people presented different stuff than the official,
accepted stuff:
josejp2424's, my variants of course, some of darry's, some of nic007's, some of RSH's,
starhawk's graphic arts progs experiment, etc., etc. Too many to list here.

Official Puppies are border-line jwm farm-clubs (IMO), and always offer the same-old,
same-old apps. You've used one Puppy, you've seen them all, as far as the apps go.

For the record (repeating myself for the N'th time here):
1) PuppyLinux is NOT a jwm farm club,

2) PuppyLinux can be used / has been used for:
-- small business management,
-- music composition,
-- media reproduction,
-- graphic arts production,
-- programming,
-- games,
-- WhineDose replacement, through Wine implementation,
etc.

3) PuppyLinux can be used in any language:
English, of course, but also French, Spanish, Italian, Hungarian, Vietnamese, etc.

4) Is it a full Pup or a minimal one?

Here are the headers we need for such a chart, IMO.
1) list of apps:
editor,
browser,
spreadsheet,
painter,
word processor,
etc.

2) main language(s)

3) focus on / main intended public for this Puppy
(graphic artists, musicians, intensive DB users, home office entrepreneurs, etc.)

4) complete or minimal

5) "party line", official, ex-factory Pup -- or more original work / remaster

If you can think of any other useful headers for this chart, please don't be shy and
mention them below.

Respectfully.

I think a plain spreadsheet would do.

It would be a good place to start. The puppy version could be along the top with verticle allignment.
