The more complex a system becomes the more likely points of failure there are, including security breach points. This Microsoft Threat Protection system is indeed mind-boggling. I'd be terrified to add it to my little Linux system since I imagine I'd have to then continually accept updates patching the various holes it introduces in its complex recursive attempt to defend against access from the insecure points its own complexity introduces. If you see what I mean. More simply: anything from Microsoft probably makes my system less insecure.

I agree, once they rope you in, they won't let you go.

the best protection against the "microsoft threat" is to not use their software in the first place.

Yes, a bit like having to make a Google account, and log into it, to switch off the Google cookies for logging...

I would never trust anything by Microsoft, my wife sadly uses windows 10, well she needed MS Word for her work, Her Laptop is like 6 months old and runs so slow, she's always complaining about it, all that added crap they have running in the background now is crazy plus then you add the constant updates and then you add the Antivirus to it, Its a complete mess. Microsoft needs to ditch its roots and start over fresh from the ground up, They actually did that a few years ago, they came out with a whole new OS and the last minute they pulled the plug on it and shelved it. Thanks but no thanks MS, you can keep your garbage.
