I have a new HP DV6150us notebook. When it shuts itself down for low battery, it turns off the wireless adapter.
When I plugin to the wall [power], and boot Puppy, I don't seem to be able to turn the wireless on. If I boot to Windows, it turns the wireless on.
Any ideas?
TIA
Paul
can't turn wireless on
I have a DV6105us. It may be close enough for me to test.
Mine has a switch near the blue leds for power and hdd use that turns the wireless on and off. Have you tried resetting the switch when that happens? (turn it off an back on).
An alternative is not to let the computer shut itself down but put it in suspend mode whenver it's low on battery. Search for the suspend thread here in the forum.
Actually If you now how to script (or feel like trying) It may not be too difficult to create a daemon script to check battery levels and when its low invoke the suspend script.

Oh, and in a different topic:
Does your computer has a very noisy CD drive?
When I boot puppy from the liveCD the computer sounds like an old truck falling appart (well, mostly like a quiet lawn mower or a model airplane) Specially if I have the laptop in my lap.
I was planning to take it back for warranty but I'd like to know if you've experienced it too.

Yes, I tried the little slide switch several times. Didn't do anything.
I have a combo dvd/cd drive. It doesn't seem any louder than the one in my toshiba satellite that I am retiring.
Where do you think I can get info on how to access the wireless to turn it on. Obviously???, Windows is doing that when it boots.
