How to add programs to Start Menu?

Is there a way to add a proram to the Start Menu?

I managed to installed a program from a dotpup to 3.01, and was able to create a desktop icon that works. I would also like to add an item item for the program to Start, but haven't been able to find instructions. I am using 3.01 as a full Hard (non-frugal) install.

That did it!

As it happens, it was a dotpup, so editing the menu file directly was required, but it worked the first time.
