Home: http://smartmontools.sourceforge.net/
Version: 5.3.8
The smartmontools package contains two utility programs (smartctl and smartd) to control and monitor storage systems using the Self-Monitoring, Analysis and Reporting Technology System (SMART) built into most modern ATA and SCSI harddisks. In many cases, these utilities will provide advanced warning of disk degradation and failure.

compiled in Dingo (4.00).

If a person hasn't gotten this from aragon I really recommend them doing so---and the sooner the better! For the past week my computer has really been acting up across ALL my installed distros, doing really weird things too numerous to mention here.

A fellow member of the forum suggested I do the SMART testing upon my drive, and the memtest on the RAM/CPU, etc. The latter I passed with flying colours. The former? Well... looks like I'll be chopping up my old Gateway for the 20gig Western Digital that's in it fairly soon if I wish to remain in computers. -sigh- Going to be hard going from 80gigs to 20! LOL!

Thanks for making this available to fellow Puppians aragon! You're doing a great service to us all! Keep up the great work my friend! :)

Amicalement/Cheers,

The dotpups page:
http://www.puppylinux.org/wiki/developm ... al/dotpups

is still pointing to an old 5.33 version of smartmontools. How can we get that page updated, or redirected to a more recent collection of pups and pets?
