my question is what dos moo and woof mean?

Rumor has it they're just alternative ways of greeting people to the channel than the more pedestrian "hi" or "o/" ...

Gee...since I drop in now and again in the puppy-oriented IRC channels(There are more than one), and pose questions and receive help....I don't consider myself a troll....but since you've labeled me, by extension, as one, can you forward my official Troll Badge?

sarcasm guys. Rupp fights the trolls along with the rest of us. We try to keep them at bay, but they do show up. The IRC channell is a place where you can recieve help.

And moo and woof are just ways of saying hi, i'm back. if someone moos at u, moo back. us wolves are friendly like that.

Nice to see some of the biggest trolls on #puppylinux on here hi alienjeff, WireWulf, and Rupp. i started this thread so you users who have used the irc channels could meet the guys who help out a lot of newer users not blast them.GEEBUS

we should reamp IRC then have ppl that are there as devs and make questions more askable in there like ##linux , ##windows, and #Ubuntu it would maybe make puppy linux the next top linux distro =)

look if ppl really want to see how we do things let them use their irc chat apps we are

and we are always welcoming newcomers to the channel.
if they want ous to change let them vote and start a more offical thread

We already are - for our users.
Next year I expect us to be a top 5 distro

The IRC channel has moved on from when it was started

The form IRC takes is entirely dependent on the users
Just as the direction Puppy takes is entirely dependent on those doing the coding

If you want less trolls
offer a better level of support and info
Go hunting. It is open season - just click on chat on the desktop

as far as trying to make us something we are not where else can you go at 1am to find out something about puppy
i will say i do welcome any user to pop in and call me a troll .if they think that they may as well be devoted to other linuxs as we of the irc are there to help and get help as need we have a good op staff
and good users who if asked nicely will help out

I agree. There may be a few trolls there now and again, but many of the people labeled "trolls" in the channel are actually some of the best people this OS has, willing to spend many hours of their day helping others with their problems. I myself am often on the line ALL day and well into the night, sometimes as late as 2am. And I'm usually back on first thing in the morning when i get up. We do it because we love Puppy and want it to grow.

If you have had a bad experience in the channel, maybe you should look at what happened more closely. If you come with bad language and a bad attitude first off, you're gonna get pwned. This is not a paid tech support line, but a bunch of people just like you who do it for the love and no money. The golden rule applies greatly to the channel. Do unto others as you would have done unto you. Come like a jackass, get treated like a jackass.

As for the troll badge, I'll wear it proudly. Thanx diego.
