Stemsee, if you are referring to bionicpup (rather than bionic dog, which is a debian release), I have made Chinese language pets for the bionicpup32 bit before. Please see my post dated May 31, 2019 on page 37 for more details. Here are the ones for bionicpup64:

666philb has released BionicPup64 8.0 on Sep 18, 2018

More information and forum discussions:
http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=114311

Download:
http://distro.ibiblio.org/puppylinux/puppy-bionic/

I have created 6 half-Chinese language pets for BionicPup64 8.0 :

fcitx Chinese input platform:
fcitx64_4.2.9-en-zh-bionic-18.0.0.pet (30 mb)

scim Chinese input platform:
scim64_1.4.14-en-zh-bionic-18.0.0.pet (23 mb)

yong Chinese input platform:
yong3264_4.2.0-en-zh-bionic-18.0.0.pet (8.6 mb)
yong3264_th_2016.11.5-en-zh-bionic-18.0.0.pet (7.9 mb)
yong3264_thjj_2016.7.29-en-zh-bionic-18.0.0.pet (8.4 mb)
yong3264_thth_2014.8.5-en-zh-bionic-18.0.0.pet (9.5 mb)

Plus 2 Chinese language pets for BionicPup64 8.0:
Simplified Chinese:
bionicpup64-8.0-zhcn-18.0.0.pet (3.7 mb)

Traditional Chinese:
bionicpup64-8.0-zhhk-18.0.0.pet (3.6 mb)

To use:
(a) any 1 of the 6 half-Chinese language pets will enable you to display and input Chinese in BionicPup64 8.0

(b) the Chinese language pets will give you Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese menus, icon labels, tooltips for BionicPup64 8.0

for more information about the fcitx64 4.2.9 pet, please see postings dated Feb 4 and 12, 2015 on page 15 of this subject
for more information about the scim64 1.4.14 pet, please see postings dated Feb 6 and 13, 2015 on page 15 of this subject

Hi icake

I meant debian'dog' or any of the dogs by fredx, saintless, etp etc!
I tried to install using apt-get but I was not able to invoke the input method even though the tray and menu were there!

thanks for trying though. I will do some other research too.

I use online in my lovely browser (*1 the wonderful site

the only (little) stress is at the side of Linux and Puppy Linux (not able to add them in the list of proposed keyboards (beahbeahbeahbeahbeah Puppy linux! is really poor performance of all developers!)):

add the keyboard layout

US INTL !

but

Code: Select all

# setxkbmap us intl
works in about all linux distros (*2 ! Hurrah!

excepted in the Chinese one: Deepin ! Really fun as it is the international most known Chinese Linux! In Deepin, if you start with or add US INTL using setxkbmap, as soon you use the official deepin integrated console or the official deepin integrated file manager, the setting of us intl is lerased and you have reenter in the console and reactivate the setxkbmap us int command through CTRL or ALT F2 followed by CURSOR UP and enter plus CTRL or ALT F2 to quit the automatic console mode (Proverbe of Deepin: «In Deepin you can do all things in console mode!» and it is true  )

(*1 to make it permanent in Puppy: open the page, start the input king editor page after selecting the mode. close the browser with the option "save it before to close" and remaster Puppy with a copy of /root/.mozilla in it

(*2 so crowned by the input specialist inputking as the most performant keyboard layout at all: it is the standard in inputking and offers support for about all European or the most Latin keyboards plus Chinese pinyin and transcriptions chars using for ex. dots under the signs or chars! But,... it is not offered in the list of keyboard in Puppy able to be taken inconsideration in remasterings etc. using the front ends for those settings...

trans_tray graphical frontend for google, bing and Yandex translation has a comprehensive keyboard layout selector with many variations. Try it!

Thank you very much Fred! It also works in the extremely tiny wary64-6.99 after load of yad-0.40-amd64.pet!

a bit tedious is the use of the roll down languages / keyboard selectors instead of the usual entries in the old xorg.conf ! but, as German people say: why easy if possible to make difficult!

can that be entered in a text file?

comparaison:

- better in the online editor of inputking : you can use your spell check
- better in the little editor of trans: you have a save key for saving the text (but not the settings?)

----- google translate to Dutch -----
Heel erg bedankt Fred!

but it pretty also work in Deepin (actual system) see the 2 red points on the desktop.

installation? rename *.pet into *.gz and decompress the included file system and copy it on the Deepin file system. "trans" and trans_tray can be invoqued through ALT+2 and entering those name in the field on the top of the beautiful deepin app's manager. right mouse key will show an invitation to add to the start of Deepin. All it easy and fast to do with rox (rox is intalled in my deepin and work pretty, see 5th icon from left  ).

trans will miss in Deepin the 2 dependencies. Install it with aptitude!

after that, youo can use trans in Deepin

see the printscreen (I did add the communistic background picture  )!

you can use ctrl+f to search in language / keyboard selectors

hm, are all PC user today idiots only able to roll down selectors (else if with help of a search option)

hm, I like deepin and it's devise

«all can be done in commando line!»

ALT+F2 in deepin

and you accede to the commando line (the REAL Linux Level!!!)

egal at which time of process

and can forget all the DIALOGS needing only by the windowers spoiling linux!

I found 2 mistakes in the previous posting about bionicpup64 bit Chinese language pet dated Oct 6, 2019.

The correct names of the fcitx and scim pets for bionicpup64 should be:

fcitx64_4.2.9-en-zh-bionic-18.0.0.pet (30 mb) and

scim64_1.4.14-en-zh-bionic-18.0.0.pet (23 mb)

2 "64" were missing in the original posting and are now fixed.

I have put together a quick and simple deb which can install the yong 2.4.0 input platform to the bionic dog 64 bit system. You can download yong64_2.4.0-en-zh-bionic-1.0.0.deb from : https://tinyurl.com/yxgkevos

Usage, after installing the deb in bionic dog 64 bit, restart x:
open terminal, type "startx" and press enter.

Let me know if you have any more questions.

To better help you, I need to know:
1. which puppy systems are your using?
2. which Chinese input platform do you want to install (fcitx, scim, yong)?

Once I know these, I can give your more details.
