Racy Puppy Linux
Linux 3.0.66 [i686 arch]
Racy 5.5 has the 3.0.66 Linux kernel, configured without PAE support (so only accesses first 4GB of RAM), and for a i686 CPU. It has SMP (multi-core) support.

Thanks.
I'm not very familiar with puppies.
When more apps are added to a puppy, such as this one, are all the apps loaded at once into the ram?
So that one needs a machine with more ram to run it efficiently?

Hi.
The general idea is: the more RAM you have, the better.
That having been said, Linuxes (not just Puppy Linux) usually have a
permanent swap partition of +/- 2.5 Gb on the hard disk that "absorbs"
what cannot go in RAM.
If your system doesn't have such a swap partition, AND it does not have
enough RAM, Puppy creates a small swap file of 256 Mb's during its
launch process as a stop-gap.
Now please be aware that any system working from a swap file is sluggish
compared to one running entirely from RAM.
BFN.

it's not so big with a fully and large menu

A mi me gusta Racy, and it's not so big with a fully and large menu. I download it. FYI a barebone version is available on French forum. ROLX is its name.
Saluki is based on Racy 5.2.2.
I hold a dozen of Puplets from Lucid remasterised with Racy 5.3.
Viva Racy.
Vive Racy !
Toutou ROLX 55
here in french forum (natively english speaking, just delete french set up in ISO)
ISO loaded xorgwizard fails

ISO loaded xorgwizard fails xorg,
i run vesa.
I had this problem with all Racy 5.5, not with 5.3.
I check the menu, if everything promised is here.
Browsing with
Seamonkey now, Opera runs oo, opera is slower responding, but the browser is not my interest. I pretend to be an artist, graphics and movies are my cup of tea. I'll explore that.
Retrovol, Avidemux and Xvidcap included,hum... that would feed my needs.
Thanks for having taken in account users needs..
pupsaveconfig-2.2.2.pet: 66 K added. If my first steps get wrong Racy will ask me if I want to save my session at shutdown, pupsaveconfig is a security belt. Always fastened.
Abiword is the 2.8.6 version, the last stable. Clever ! People using Puppy for large typing works will load Libre Office, the huge tool for typists (confirmed). Me, I play Puppy, for entertainment only. sometimes for serious activity, once a month. Racy means Racehorse no an horse trailing burdens heavier than him
AcetoneISO : ???? really a new one.
Skype is really a new tool for me, i study how Puppy users experienced this famous tool here
A workable way to install skype 4.3 in puppy
