Kirk and jamesbond are pleased to announce the release of release of Fatdog64-700rc ("release candidate").

For old-timers/testers: we hope that this will be the last release before final, which will be coming in a week's time unless there is major problem. So please test away and report back any findings, thanks.

For new-comers: Fatdog64-700 is a new major release of Fatdog64. Fatdog64 is now built from LFS and BLFS base. All base packages have been updated. You can find release announcements for beta2, beta1 and alpha1.

Thanks especially to L18L for his non-stop effort to internationalise Fatdog (some of which are already in this release), and SFR for pointing out long-standing bugs, and also to our other testers and users for your feedback, support and suggestions.

Firefox notes:

This release comes without Firefox, for two reasons:
1) Seamonkey and Firefox are at different internal revision (SM uses Gecko 35.0 and Firefox uses 35.0.1), so they cannot be merged.
2) 64-bit Firefox 35.0.1 has a problem with DNS resolution, as jamesbond pointed out in here.

You can still download Firefox 35.0.1 from the repo, or use the Firefox updater (in the Control Panel/Updates tab) to get the official Mozilla binary instead.

EDIT: In general, the "broken" directory does contain broken and various testing stuff, so don't look there unless instructed.

but since my cellphone has free tether now, got it anyway, nice and crisp AMD is running really hot, need to get something for that. Load is somewhat higher at idle like use near 30-40 percent with just browser.

jamesbond, thanks for your patient answers to my recent questions. Regarding devsave-devbase, when I switched back to humongous initrd, I had to fix some links I had made to files in /aufs/devbase

@Ted Dog, the 3.18.x kernel does seem to run a teeny bit hotter than previously. I don't know why.
As for hardinfo not showing temp, yeah I wonder why. Perhaps 3.18 change the location of the temperature sysfs. I will have to look and update hardinfo. For the time being you can run "sensors" in terminal to see some temperatures.

Goto Fatdog event manager, change the "drive icon max volabel lenght" to anything other than zero. In my destkop six (6) is about the max I can have before it starts to overlap each other, if you want to show more than 6 then you'll have to start tweaking the icon grids ...[/quote]

@Ted Dog: run this in terminal "radeon-dpm-control.sh low" and see if that helps. This was the default in earlier beta and late 630s, but I disabled it a while ago.

Thanks, James. I was about to edit my post. The missing drive icon labels were my fault: At one time I had altered fatdog-drive-icon-roxlib.sh and it was still in my save folder. When I removed it, problem solved. (The labels were ok in b2.)

I'm running from a multisession DVD.

It's working okay so far although I loaded the qt4-4.8.5.sfs and
find that it needs to be loaded every boot even though I chose load

If your SFS is on disk (e.g. on /dev/sdb3) and not under / itself, then you need to mount the disk at boot time before the system attempts to load the sfs-es. The way to do it is to edit /etc/fstab and add the entry, for example:

"/dev/sdb3 /mnt/sdb3 auto defaults 0 0"

If you don't want to do this, you can copy the SFS into "/" (or somewhere under it, e.g. "/sfs"), so that it gets saved into the session and loaded automatically at next reboot, already available for automatic mounting without fstab stuff.

Just a quick live test......main problem is that the best resolution I can get is1024x768 instead of the desired 1920x1080,regardless of driver used. Surprising because nouveau generally boots to the correct resolution ootb. GTX-750 card.

Otherwise seems to be working well. I'll try on a box with an older Nvidia card tomorrow.
