2) Weather is not appearing after boot, it is selected, but I need to reapply on order to see it. This requires internet connection. I guess it works after reboot with a wired network. But including this one as default is Warrens work. I don't think the weather should be default. - But that's me. I...

First of all, Congratulation to all the people doing the hard job! Few things: About streamtuner/alsaplayer 1) I couldn't how what streamripper works: it opens a terminal window labeled with streamripper and then nothing happens. I couldn't understand if and where the stream was recorded. 2) In stre...

How to compile wine with opengl in unnamed?
Hi, and thanks for this fantastic puppy derivative. I'm having really fun with it and it works very well on my system, thanks to the smp support. I'm running it under vmware player, with windows xp as host. I'm trying to compile wine 1.1.13, but I need opengl support for a software that I'm using. I...

Hi, in puppy there should be the gxine plugin but it opens an external player window. If you want embedded video you should try the mplayer plugin. I found a reference here: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?t=25591 (even though I don't know which puppy version are you using and I didn't tr...

compiling jackdmp question
Hi, I'm trying to compile the latest jackdmp (a new implementation of the jack audio server) http://www.grame.fr/~letz/jackdmp.html . The reame file says that "- the --dbus flag must be defined at configure time to compile the jackdbus executable. If the "automatic start server option"...

Processing 1.0.1 opengl and other small issues
Hi, I installed Processing application under Puppy 4.1. It runs quite well except few things that I'd like to solve. I put an install howto in my blog http://liberomureddu.blogspot.com/2008/12/processing-and-puppy-linux.html 1) The opengl examples don't work: the graphic window opens but the renderi...

puppy vmware in windows host, security question
Hi, I'm currently running puppy as a virtual machine in a windows xp sp3 host. Because I read everywhere suggestions like "don't let your win computer touch the internet" etc., and, actually, few weeks ago I got a trojan, I'm wondering if doing my internet activities through puppy is a sui...

I wouldn't suggest to do your real time tasks within a VM but it may worth to do everything else in one ore more. This way your system stays small and clean, and recovering the backup of a VM takes you just the time to copy. So, if having time it may be worth a try. What about your computer system?...

@ Jörg thanks for your answer, I know that I need a low latency while track overdubbing/playing live electronics and not during tracking/mixing (even if, doing a lot of recordings of classical music, quite often I am in the same room with the player, and if I have to check the recording as well as t...

pfind browse not working
Hi, I postedi this also to the 4.1 bug section, but I realized now that this could be a better place! In last pfind, the browse button creates an empty folder. If I start it from a terminal, I get: find: /proc/15338/net: Invalid argument rm: cannot remove `/tmp/searchresult16512': No such file or di...

I continued my study. It seems to me that once I have opened ylenklassinen so that it runs, and THEN while it runs, I add the mediamark, the resulting mediamark is useful at least for some time. I had done something else in between, but not booting in the meantime. At returning to Gxine agin, the s...

I updated the pet, now it also works with: http://www.bbc.co.uk/worldservice/meta/tx/nb/live_news_au_nb.asx Mark Mark, thank you so much for this. One point: Matthias Ringwald from xine discovered the reason of the weird be...

Hi MU, thanks a lot for working on gxine. On my system (puppy 4.1) it doesn't work that well, it asks everytime at startup to repeat the setup wizard, and, unfortunately, the yle.fi stream doesn't work anymore for me (but this started already yesterday with the normal gxine included in puppy, so, it...

Re: gxine and yle.fi net radio question
Congratulations, Is there someone around who could fix the link opening routine so that it could use a mode parameter. I mean that somewhere in the application, along with the stored urls of interest (yle.fi for example), a switch would guide the player application to dig up the second line of info...
