how-to use WM5/6 Internet Sharing with Puppy via USB
I posted this originally at the following thread: Windows Mobile 6 Devices Bark? http://www.murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=234233#234233. I figured I would start a new thread here. Update 20081203: Here are the INSTRUCTIONS for replacing your original usb-rndis-lite with one that enables us t...

changing how puppy finds your pup_save / personal storage
I have several pup_saves on different media/devices and I want the option to load any one of them, depending on my needs. If pmedia is removed from menu.lst or syslinux.cfg entries, I am able to accomplish this. Question: Will I be causing problems to my Puppy 4.0 and 4.1 the pmedia parameter is omi...

I encountered the same error
I got the same error on the official Puppy 4.1. I haven't tested extensively, but when I used a brand new pup_save, the error did not appear. The only difference I can think of is that the first pup_save did not have /root/.Xauthority.
Will post more of my observations soon.

HowTo get CUPS-PDF (aka pdf-printer) to work
For newbies like myself, it may not be obvious how to solve this problem (and I have scoured the forum...). So here goes. Problem: Printing using the predefined CUPS-PDF does not appear to work. Symptom: Upon initiating print job, a dialogue box pops up but quickly disappears, and your PDF is nowher...

Mtools 3.9.11
Download: http://dotpups.de/kuapao_pet-sfs/mtools-3.9.11/mtools-3.9.11-i486.sfs (1 MB) Thanks, kuapao. It might be great to have a PET, as you can just use 3 SFS files at once. So SFS usually should be used only for large programs. Mark Okay, here's the .pet. I try to keep my pup_save small, so I p...

mtools as SFS (pet file also available)
Update: PET file is located in this post: http://murga-linux.com/puppy/viewtopic.php?p=236430#236430 I was looking for a way in Puppy Linux to rename volume labels of existing vfat filesystems. I learned from my research that Mtools has mlabel, which can do exactly this. So, I have created an SFS co...

MAN pages available (SFS)
I've put together an SFS file containing the text man-pages from kernel.org and html-based man pages from tldp.org, as well as "manu", my modified version of Barry's man script. Please see details at the How-To forum, under title "traditional man pages as sfs file": [url]http://w...

new SFS file
UPDATE 20080926: Some man pages were not in the man-pages-3.10 package from kernel.org. So, I have a new sfs file. I downloaded an html compilation from http://www.tldp.org/manpages/man-html. Excerpt from the index page: This compilation does not contain all manual pages on a typical Linux installat...

Re: Windows Mobile 6 Devices Bark?
Good Morning, Campers! A friend walked into the shop last week, hating on Linux as usual. In his hand he had an HP IPAQ 500 Voice Messenger, and said with a sly grin that he would gladly buy a linux machine if he could get internet through his handheld just like he easily does in Windows. Around an...
