Have you checked this: I have noticed a post or 2 about the firmware not being unpacked from the /lib/modules/all-firmware to /lib/firmware. In /lib/modules/all-firmware Look for the name that will match your device. Just unpack it. Place it into /lib/firmware Yes I did. Didn't help nothing. And as ...

Broadcom not working

I have an Broadcom BCM4306 in my old laptop. The last Puppy's that worked with that card were Slacko 5.6 and Puppy Precise 5.71. I cannot get it to work in slacko 5.9.3.6 either. Mind you: I believe it to be a kernel problem, because I cannot get it to work with any modern distribution neither. The ...

A little update here.

I do not have that Compaq computer anymore.

I have been using Slacko 5.3.3, Wary 5.3 and Racy 5.3.

None of these have the issue I started this threat for anymore and boot correctly.

So, I think it is save for me to say, that except for lupu 5.2.5, this threat is

To all on this thread

People, What is (still) happening here is (forget about my compaq for awhile): When I boot the original lupu 5.2.5 (and I did burn it several times on several disks) it takes my basic computer (the one you can read about underneath my post) it takes my basic computer about 12 tot 20 seconds to ...

@ Béèm I could end this thread with [Solved], but that is not really true. It is solved for me, or I ran "around" the issue, but the "issue" still exists. It is not solved. Unless you mean "solved for me". ---+--- Also I noticed that many a distro build (burned on CD or DVD) is not "recognized" as e ...

@gcmartin I'm way to "stupid" to run most Linux commands, meaning I run Linux in a graphic environment and I can't remember most "terminal" codes. I do not understand the way an ISO build works, but considering that the "build-in" remastering works, surely tells us that there is something wrong with ...

I did run 16bit, but I solved the screen problem: I just need to use VESA now. So all in all: the entire problem (for me) is solved by rebuilding the cd and than using VESA as the graphic driver. I can boot and install Puppy 5.2.5 now. (Boots way faster than the original ISO.) Thanks to all out ...

Can not do.

Just booting the CD (iso) makes it "hang".

Only on my Compaq.

BTW, my compaq is just a "test- machine", but I like it to work.

Only 2 of my computers can go for "real".

The computer I'm typing on now, has 12 systems: 1 Windows XP and all he rest are Linux distro's.

@gcmartin

Do you have any idea why it works on 4 of my computers but not with the Compaq?

Might it be the CD/DVD driver of that computer?

Same (stupid) question:

Why does it work on 4 of my computers, and not on the Compaq?

It'll be some issue for the developers.
