In the README's, MADWiFi definitely supports monitor mode, but I'm not sure about ipw2200. Generally, monitor mode is set like this (but not with linux-wlan-ng, more on this later) - "iwconfig eth0 mode monitor" If it fails, it will usually tell you. Well, I took another look at the madwifi readme ...

Hello,

Are the drivers that you have posted capable of monitor mode? Most specifically the madwifi or ipw2200 drivers?

Thanks,

Custom 1.0.8 CD: how to boot with ACPI enabled?

Hello, I have been trying to create a custom 1.08 LiveCD. All I want to do is change the default boot option to have ACPI enabled instead of disabled (option 2). I have tried editing the ISOLINUX.CFG file when prompted and just changing the "default=1" to "default=2". However, when I do this the CD ...

How to use both my USB and serial trackpad mouse?

Hello,

How do I get Puppy to detect both my USB mouse and the serial trackpad built into my laptop? Every other bootable CD distribution automatically has both enabled, so I know that it is possible in Linux. Why is it limited in Puppy?

NTFS was the only reason we moved back to the earlier kernel from what I remember AND some people including me found it aprox 30% faster. Now might be a good time to move forward again . . . Yeah, I went back looking through some of the postings from that timeframe and it looked like there were two ...

Kernel 2.6 in Puppy 2?

Hello, Since it seems that the NTFS issue has been resolved in the 2.6 kernel, is there any plans on going back to that for Puppy 2? Since it seems that most new development in the Linux driver set is being done on 2.6, it seems that it would be the way to go and move forward from the 2.4 kernel ...

1.0.8r1: no sound on laptop with Intel Integrated Audio

Hello, I'm trying to get my audio working on my laptop with Puppy 1.08r1. It is the Intel Integrated audio. When I run the Puppy hardware probe I get: No info found about the device 8086:24c5 (AUDIO)! What other information would you need? The module it tries to load is the snd-intel8x0, which does ...

Yep, I'm using your IPW2200 1.0.1 driver and your wpa_supplicanty 0.4.7. The wireless works fine at work, where they don't have any encryption enabled. Though I haven't tried turning off encryption at home yet. Would it make a difference that my wireless is eth1? I have changed all references from ...

Did anyone get WPA working with the IPW2200 NIC? I started a new thread at http://www.murga.org/%7Epuppy/viewtopic.php?t=6504 since the IPW2200 content of this one seemed to be getting lost and my question is speciffically about WPA support.

In addition to the IOCTL error, the messages I get that look important are:

Code: Select all

Trying to associate with <AP_MAC> (SSID='My-SSID' freq=0MHz)
Authentication with 00:00:00:00:00:00 timed out
where <AP_MAC> is the MAC address of my access point.

Wireless configuration: IPW and WPA

Good try. 2 things to check; - Make sure your router is set to broadcast its SSID. Hidden SSID's may not work. - Change a line in /etc/wpa_supplicant.conf to "scan_ssid=0", and comment out "priority=5" Also, I just read somewhere that psk="MY_SECRET_PASSPHRASE" is wrong - the quotation marks should ...

Convert Multi-session CD to PUP001?

Hello, I have been reading about all of the problems with using the multi-session CD (as opposed to DVD). Using the 1.08r1 image, I have been experiencing some of them and was wondering if it is possible to convert my existing multi-session CD to the "regular" CD with a PUP001 file? I'd really like ...

As additional information, the USB keyboard works on the Live-CD version, not the multi-session version. I guess the USB drivers don't get loaded soon enough on the multisession or USB flash versions of Puppy.

This is strange. Everything worked fine booting the 1.0.7 CD. I was able to use the USB keyboard without any problems. The only thing I did after booting from the CD was to run the USB flash install. Again, during the install, the keyboard worked without any problems. Then when I boot from the USB ...
