What I ended up doing was to start over (boot from the CD without the pup save file) and then I used the connection wizard, first the DSL connection, because that's what we have, then the PPPOE and after setting it up to always be available, it just connects for me anytime, I don't have to mess with...
Laptop?
Anybody ever use Puppy on a Toshiba Sattelite A105-S2051? If so, how does it handle the sound? My son-in-law is having trouble with trying to get Linux to use his sound "card" (a chip actually) to be recognized and used. So far, Ubuntu is ok, but it has problems and the sound on the latest...

Audio settings not saved?
I fixed my sound settings and rebooted to get Pup to save them to the Pup_Save file. When I rebooted, the settings were either not read, or not saved, I don't know. Anyway, there was no sound and I had to rerun the Alsa sound configuration and the Alsa Mixer again to get sound to work. How can I get...

update: I got the duplex mode to work. There was another ppd file that I had on my SuSE system so I just copied that one over to Puppy also. I don't remember where I got the original from, maybe from the Samsung install disk. So, the 2 ppd's are named: samsungCLP510.ppd and CLP-510splc.ppd. I tried ...

How I got a Samsung CLP-510 Laser printer to work
This is how I added my Samsung CLP-510 laser printer. I got these directions from this Linux Printing.org page This gives more instruction on which folders to look in. Get the Samsung CLP driver from here Copy mfp to: /usr/lib/cups/backend/ Copy all the samsung filters to: /usr/lib/cups/filter Copy ...

open_gl, SDL, SDL Mixer?
Where do I get these? Does Puppy come with them? I would not want to install a package that conflicts or breaks my Puppy installation.

Gmail is laggy
When I browse the folders in Gmail from Puppy, it acts so slowly. I have to hit the "reload" button each time I click on the folder link. What could be causing this? Is it Java?
In comparison, When I run SuSE, Gmail's folders respond instantaneously.
I have Puppy 4.1 and 2GB ram.

Thank you very much! I just didn't want to ruin my SeaMonkey again like I did trying to install the calendar extension from the site I mentioned earlier. I had figured that if it worked when I had SM 1.1.8 or 1.1.9 or so, and now I have SM 1.1.13 on my SuSE system, that the calendar extension should...

update on printing from a Samsung CLP510: I added the samsung files to Puppy's Cups and it works however, duplex mode does not work (it does in SuSE), even when set from within Cups. I had tried setting it both ways, from Abiword and Cups but like I said, it made no difference. It's quite possible t...

Thanks so much! I will try it out next time I screw things up. I will save your answer to a txt file to print when I'm in SuSE. I cannot print in Puppy because I have a Samsung Laser printer (CLP510) and Gutenprint does not have a driver for it yet. I just wish that Puppy came also with Splix which ...

These are my Pup observations: With Pup Seamonkey: the only thing that I could install that worked properly was Ad Block Plus from it's official Sea Monkey add-ons site. I was even able to subscribe to the white list. Warning: Do NOT install anything else! I then got Gimp and Mplayer with its codecs...

update: I ended up redoing everything anyway. I noticed that when I install the seamonkey addons from pup's repository, the ad block does not work, it says that it was not activated and did not have the access to the directory that it needs. I went and installed AdBlock Plus from the official add on...
