unfortunately bro, that is the case.
I don't know how this works: "SQUID plus ICAP plus ClamAV" - but maybe this sheaf is good.
Sounds good. Can it be easily installed by a noob?

CPU Scaling is another word for Underclocking. When I started I turned the CPU down from 2.00 gHz to 1.5 but it ran incredibly slow. Changed the setting to 1.9 & it still ran slow. In the end I went with the automatically-detected setting of 1.00 gHz min & 2.00 gHz max and now the CPU is 10 degrees ...

GuyKL, I'm no Geek and I found underclocking the CPU easier than falling off a log. Trio's genius bit of code did everything for me except press the <Enter> key. In 431 Retro I had to download and install a Pet file, but in 501 I believe all you need to do is activate CPU Scaling from the Menu ...

With the AV rcrsn51 suggested, you don't actually need to install - it's a live-boot CD (has its own OS on the disk). Also, Puppy comes with F-Prot, but you need to go through an update process. I haven't been thrilled with any of the recent AV programs -- on Windows systems they have become so ...

Hi GuyKL, Avast for linux will work on puppy. You can do a forum search on avast for more info. There is a .pet package available and it can also be installed by downloading form the avast website and extracting the files into a folder. There is a fix that has to be added to the rc.local file to ...

Hi again, Do you use Wine and/or any version of Windows (and if yes, tell us XP or whatever)? If you use any version of Windows then active protection (in Windows) is a must. A few say safe browsing is sufficient but there is nothing lost by using one of the free active programs such as avast! and ...

When you said Avast install easily on Lucid (is this the code name for the latest Puppy?, noob here), is that mean it is as easy as installing it on Windows? I thank you in advance.

Hi, If you use Wine then there is a limited but very quick on demand test using: http://download2.emsisoft.com/malaware/MalAware.exe With broadband the download is almost instantaneous and the run time will probably be about 30 seconds when you click on the exe file in your download folder. My ...

I was never impressed with ClamAV as an anti-virus tool for Windows. There seemed to be too much malware that it never detected. My personal favourite is the AVG Rescue CD . You run it as a live Linux CD so you can take it to any Windows machine and it auto-updates itself over the net. Thanks for ...
